My mum has a Galaxy Tab and it's awesome. It comes down to whether you prefer iOS or Android, really. Both have pretty similar functionality AFAIK.

But you can't compare a Galaxy Tab and an iPod Touch seeing how the Galaxy Tab is 1) a phone and 2) pretty big - like half an iPad. Galaxy Tab/iPad or Galaxy Tab/iPhone would be better comparisons.

Also a new Galaxy Tab is on the way with a 10.1 inch screen and Android 3 installed.

I have GT and it's great It's just the right size - not too big, not too small - so great if you travel a lot. Perfect for watching movies on cars/trains/bus as well

The current Galaxy Tab already has wifi capability. That is, if you're talking about 802.11x wireless networking (commonly used in homes and public places like Starbucks). It also supports cellular data networks through GPRS, Edge, 3G and HSDPA. The GT can even act as a mobile internet access point for your other devices.

I think the iPod Touch is a far better product if you want to get your moneys worth, but then I've never really used the Galaxy Tab. The one central thing I dislike about the Galaxy Tab is that it is less portable than the iPod Touch and I prefer the iOS interface as oppose to the Android interface. Plus, the App Store and iTunes have much better offerings than those of the Android Market.

i would recommend the iphone over the ipod touch but the contract is where it gets to you. dam that legal working age law..
galaxy tab is nice but froyo does not feel like it was truely made for a tablet. ipod touch on the other hand is a great ipod, can do netflix, has more quality titles on the app store, and the retina display is truely remarkable in my opinion.

like i said in a different topic android apps can be malicious. most of the one's that did contain malware, viruses, and trojans have been removed. the prices in the android marketplace can charge more than the app store. im guessing you do not have a debit or credit card yet http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=105916 so the ipod touch would be your best bet because you can buy giftcards at most checkout counters starting at $15

i dont know if you care about hardware but some of the newer OS updates just might require duel core processors.
in my opinion wait till september of this year when apple rolls out their ipod lineup for the holiday season. you might just need that duel core processor to keep up to date with hardware intensive apps

Between the two, I would say the iPod Touch. The Galaxy Tab doesn't support Honeycomb (the Android OS for tablets) so it will be hit or miss which apps work well and which don't. I'm not the biggest fan of Apple, but the iPod Touch definitely has more and better apps than any Android device--and I say this as the owner of a Motorola Droid who is very frustrated with the current state of Android apps. Live wallpapers and the freedom to customize are nice, but in terms of sheer content the iPod Touch is still streets ahead of any Android device. Unless you really like Adobe Flash.

iPod Touch, but depends on what you would use it most for. iPod has better games. Galaxy tablet is better workspace and is a phone.

I would avoid the Galaxy Tab myself. As said earlier, Froyo is not very great for tablets. A Xoom seems like a much better Android tablet offering.

My final answer: iPod Touch.
