I highly doubt Nintendo invested much money into the 2DS. The Wii U is a bigger concern for Nintendo (though even if the Wii U fails, I doubt it will do serious damage to Nintendo, they're sitting on a lot of money).
I'm going to be so mad when (hypothetically) the game industry crashes and burns. It might force me to live in the real world.

The gaming industry will never crash, though there are periods in which most games suck. Many people don't realize just how much the gaming industry has helped our species, it's influence reaches into everything from entertainment to keep kids well behaved to training soldiers for real life situations and thus saving the lives of millions. Then there are the projects employing gamers to help unravel chemistry and biology. The medical applications are limitless, even as an alternative to sedatives in some cases which drugs are not an option, and remote surgery being the new future application. Gaming has influenced how space exploration is done. It has proven to be an excellent placement for advertisements. Psychologists use games to better understand the human brain, finding those which invoke specific emotions in a harmless manner then recording the activity of the brain during that has helped us to understand how we all think. Many people who would commit suicide are often kept from those thoughts because of the goals games set for them. Psychotics can sate their thirst for violence without ever harming another living thing. Children who game develop higher puzzle solving skills, better social skills, and other various physical skills at earlier ages offering them better opportunities and chances in life. Nope, you will never be mad about that, because gaming is here to stay, it's part of our species now, and ... ironically ... always has been. Video games are just the easier method of distributing games.
