I'll be gaming until I'm physically unable to, I'd wager, although the amount comes and goes depending on what's going on in my life. Right now I have a lot of spare time.
I've quit before and thought many times of quitting again. If it weren't for the Virtual Console, I would have definitely sold my Wii by now, which is my primary gaming system at the moment, despite Brawl and a few good WiiWare titles.
I doubt I'll get any of the next generation of consoles, but I'll of course have to see what they're like before deciding. But I'll still have my old games on my VC, plus Earthbound on SNES.
Kind of a pointless question really. Gaming becomes more of a normal thing with every generation, which is why the average age for gamers has been hovering around late-20's to mid-30's for a while now. When I was younger it was just a kid's thing for the most part. My generation grew up gaming, now we're having kids and we're encouraging them to take up gaming whereas most of our parents generally did the opposite. I'd imagine that with the next generation or two, gaming is going to just be an everyday thing, regardless of age. Odds are if you were born anywhere within the last 30-40 years and have enough interest in games to make you want to follow their development and discuss them on forums with random strangers then you'll likely be playing games pretty avidly for the rest of your life.
To be honest, I will continue to play games till I find them a waste of money and time. Right now, most of the gaming community have been a huge turn off to be a part where ravaging game nerds fight like twelve year olds over "dominance" of what is good or not, or the complete hypocrisy about their view points when something they thought was completely stupid (Wii-mote in '06) to the best thing announced (NATAL and Sony's Wand). Point is, this is a good community here, small and you don't feel like shooting yourself, but most others especially with publications they just really put me off from even considering myself as a gamer.
Until video games cease to exist, which will NEVER happen!
I beg to differ. But I can't see too far ahead in my videogaming future, though I'll continue playing if there is anything worthy and temporarily distracting for entertainment purposes.
