Topic: How long do you like your RPGs?

It depends on whether I'm playing an RPG for the story or the gameplay. If the class system or character building is deep and has lots of new combinations, I'd want to spend more time in the game to make the most out of it. If I'm only playing for the story though, of course I'd want less filler. The days of playing a game that lasts a long time to get your money's worth is over, imo. You can get 40 hour experiences for under 10 dollars, but it won't be in any ways great.

Just one more thing though, in a lot of RPG's this happens:

"So guys, we've figured out who the bad guy is and our party's strong enough to go defeat him! The only problem is that he's inside an evil castle of evil, and the door is locked. The key has also conveniently been split up into three (and it's always three) parts, and each part is in a different corner of the game world guarded by a boss you've already fought before."

If that didn't happen, I would enjoy RPG's so so much more.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Long enough for me to decide to keep playing it or not.

I prefer my RPG's to last a good 30-40 hours, unless they're boring.. then they can't end soon enough or I just stop playing. If it's really good though it could last 40 hours and I'd still be bummed it didn't last longer.

Long enough to feel worth buying (15+ hours), but in most cases not much longer than 30 hours because most RPG's fail to keep the story and game interesting up to that point.

LOL you should play Shin Megami Tensei IV for 3DS. Its story is insane and constantly changes repeatedly.

Well I'd rather have an RPG last longer, but I'd also rather play a short one than one that got me bored before the end. Having a constantly changing story seems like it would be hard to be invested in, but I am intested in playing a Shin Megami Tensei game when I get the time.

I like my RPGs how I like my burgers; medium well. I don't want all that red undercooked stuff that'll give you a food borne illness, but I don't want it extra crispy either.
