For me, I googled reviews for the DSiWare games Magical Whip and Castle of Magic, and found this site to be very good, with in-depth reviews about games I didn't even know people cared about. Then, I saw the WiiU tab, and decided to click favorite. Unfortunately, I clicked the wrong part of my screen with my phone, which led me to the home page, which was filled with tons of Nintendo news. I think that's when I decided this site felt like home.
I was referred here by someone on MyIGN. First I just came for the wide variety of Nintendo reviews & news that IGN didn't offer.
Then, my iPod broke, so I could no longer get on the internet with it. the MyIGN community website is too large for the 3DS's browser, but the NL forums worked suprisingly well, so I moved shop & here I am

I found it through searching for reviews when i was researching Wii and DS games to buy. I thought the reviews were good, and found myself reading other articles as well - I basically read every article on here now. As I started reading more features I started commenting on them, which let me get to know some of the regulars and since then I've been enjoying the community.
EDIT: Plus it's one of the few gaming sites I visit where there isn't an abundance of wankers. I'm sick of reading comments from trolls and fanboys that descend into flame wars - I find there's very little of that here, which is refreshing. It's possible to actually have a discussion here!
I found the site when I was bored one day while trying to find some Nintendo news and I stumbled upon it!
For a few weeks I actually read some of the conversation in the forums and comments on articles and I decided that I wanted to be part of it all!
Currently playing: Rhythm Heaven, Minecraft (XBLA), Pokemon B/W 2, Halo 4, The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave, Fallblox, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GCN)
Will be playing soon: Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Cave Story +, Wii U: NSMBU, Nintendo Land, (And lots more!)
I'd actually like a reply from a mod like TBD on this thread (yes, I know she already said her NLife backstory on Ask theblackdragon) but knowing how the mods found this site would be nice.
I was finding stuff on the Super Mario Wiki, but I noticed all the pics were "Courtesy on www.nintendollife.com" so I checked it out. I love the all-nintendo and the moderators and the features and reviews, so I stayed.
Still here: I like the people, for the most part... OK, no really, everyone is great and there are quite a few characters. To quote Bilbo, "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. "
Isn't there a thread like this already I feel like I have answered this before lol. Well one more time wont hurt.
I was looking for release dates on VC games on Wikipedia and noticed that one of the sources they used was NintendoLife. So I clicked on their link and it sent me here. I browsed the forums for a few months before creating my account. As for why do I stay. Cause The Black Dragon hasn't banned me yet J/K. I stay cause the community is one of the best I have ever been a part of online wise plus the reviews here have never steered me wrong, and the news is just fascinating.

Well, I was thinking it was when Virtual Console Reviews was fused into NintendoLife, but it shows that I joined in February 1, '09. The end of VC Reviews wasn't until April 1, '09. So, I'm not sure if I randomly came to visit shortly before then, or there was advanced word of the merger at VC Forums and I came here out of curiosity.
And I agree with a lot of what I've read. For the most part, people are so much nicer here than other video game sites I've been to. That's one thing that's made me a lurker most places is when you're a new poster, people either ignore you or jump on you. I don't post anymore at places like GameFAQs, and I wouldn't dare at IGN. People were pretty welcoming here when I started here, so I post more here than I do anywhere else on the Internet. Honestly, I'm somewhat of a misanthrope and it's not often I come out of my shell to socialize online (or IRL, often), so I had to be comfortable to even post here to begin with. Plus, it's a great site itself, with devoted and friendly staff that regularly update it!
I discovered the site (or was it WiiWare World at the time? Maybe) when I bought my Wii in 2007, as I wanted to get into WiiWare and was keen to find online reviews. I was a lurker, visiting on a daily basis, until 2010. I loved reading the news, comments and forum threads, but had always shied away from actually joining in (on this or any website community). The turning point was when I bought GoldenEye 007 for Wii at launch and saw a thread for online matches; I took the plunge, registered an account and got my game on in some online multiplayer: I was struck by how friendly and welcoming everyone was. In January 2011 I applied to be a DSiWare reviewer when a post was advertised, was surprisingly selected, and things went from there.
I have often stayed away from joining online communities because so many just aren't welcoming or particularly enjoyable, but I think NL bucks that trend. This site is all about the community, whether in the forums or commenting on articles. That's why I love it so
I cant rember exactly, but I know I was looking for a review for some boring game that got like a3-4 that I didnt buy. Been with 'em ever since because of how reliable the reveiws are.
Edit: @mieui-fire: yeah, i just joined seeing as how freindly everyone was and stuff as I usually stay away from this kinda thing, like thomas. Been here for a year and 4-7 months now.
