Pac-Man Party 3D has the only way to play the arcade version of Dig Dug on a 3DS.

They hate it because it was the last Zelda released. When the next one comes out they will hate that one and love Skyward Sword. It's all part of the cycle.

I really don't know why people hate Skyward Sword so much. I guess it all comes down to opinion.
I for one thought the good parts well outweighed the bad. Especially Ghirahim, who is by far my favourite Zelda villain, and I'll be upset if he doesn't return in a future game.

I wasn't dissing Skyward Sword perse, I just had a brain fart when I started typing. ^^; Despite my grievances, I wouldn't bother listing a game like that, where no one problem amounts to anymore than a nitpick. Granted, the nitpicks pile up into one big problem, but again, there are way worse games that could be listed.

I think it's back in order, so I'll give it another shot:

Final Fantasy VI - The music and graphics - it's a very pretty game, and the soundtrack is amazing. If it was an anime or something, I would be happy to watch it just for that, but I just can't get over all the mechanical and story problems the game has.

Lightning Returns - Closure with Snow and Noel. Seriously, those cutscenes almost, almost made playing that game worth it...if Youtube didn't exist. Seriously, don't bother playing that game...

SaGa Frontier - Some of the story elements and locals are gorgeous, and the game has some interesting ideas in terms of mechanics, even if it kinda...really fails to be actually excecute them well most of the time...

Cyber Knight - IT'S GOT GIANT ROBOTS

Sonic the Fighters - It's music. Seriously. I mean, some of it doesn't fit a fighting game, it's nice stuff either way.

Matrimelee - SUPER NUN!

I'll list more, but since everyone seems confused, I better get this out quick...though I have feeling it's too late. :/

I think he meant main game...or are you saying Hyrule Warriors is the next in line for the Zelda Cycle?

EDIT: Wait, the last main Zelda game was A Link Between Worlds...

Because this topic would be dead, otherwise. I mean, it's really hard to think of a game you consider bad, yet still find something you like about it. I nearly broke my brain twice trying to come up with 6, and even then I'm obviously reaching a few times as to what I could actually consider "bad" - I honestly enjoyed Matrimelee and SaGa Frontier a great deal, for instance. They're only "bad" because I can name a lot of things that didn't really work or would be bad in other games. As far as I can tell, if you actually like something about a game enough for it to stand out in your mind, you're probably not gonna consider it a bad game overall.

That cycle doesn't exist. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess were all Zelda games I loved from the very first playthrough. That's definitely not true for Skyward Sword. It's the only Zelda game I've never finished, not because I wasn't willing to, but because the controls were so broken to the point that I couldn't even complete simple mini-games, nor could I defeat Ghirahim in his last fight. And it's not because I dislike the Wii Remote or motion controls; Zack & Wiki is probably one of my favourite games for the Wii. The controls weren't the only bad thing in Skyward Sword either...

That being said, since we're talking about the good parts of a bad game; I like the design of Koloktos; the entirety of the Ancient Cistirn was quite impressive. I didn't mind the backtracking either; I actually liked how each area changed throughout the game.

I could never beat gyorg in MM yet it's a really good zelda game. The motion controls for me were pretty solid, it was a concern at first but they work out really well. I did have to recalibrate every once in a while but you can simply press the + pad to do that effortlessly.

I don't hate Skyward Sword, but it's definitely my least favorite 3D Zelda.

Personally my issues with it were (there are minor gripes as well, but these impacted my enjoyment):
-The dungeons were all about the puzzles. There was no maze component at all. TP and WW's dungeons were linear, but occasionally you'd wind up at a dead end and had to figure our how to move forward spacially.
-Some of the main story quests were painful and tedious (scrapper escort mission, tadtones)
-While the story itself was decent, it didn't impact the world or side characters at all. The only relevant characters were Link, Zelda, Groose, Impa, Ghirahim, and Demise. Compare that to Wind Waker, where you go to Greatfish Isle and see the impact of Ganon's wrongdoing, or you go to Forest Haven and see the monsters attacking the Deku Tree.
-While on the subject of characters, I didn't like Zelda at all. Her character felt extremely forced.
-While the controls worked just fine, the combat wasn't very fun. Maybe I'm just impatient, but I didn't like having to play around my enemy's sword position.

On the other hand:
-The puzzles were great as usual
-The music was great as usual.
-The overworld is one of the best designed in the series IMO. I know it was linear, but as far as it's level design goes, it was amazing
-The timeshift stones were genius
-Ghirahim

  • The game could get really immersive with the controls at points.

Haters gonna hate, Skyward Sword is one of my favorites. Great dungeon design, mostly great bosses, incedidibly intelligent motif if you're willing to look deep enough past "it's not just another dark filter like MM or FFVII T_T!!!1". And the subtle yet powerful character relationships is one of the best in the series (As much as I loved Link Between Worlds, not a single relationship felt as real as a handful in SS).

I'm having a hard time thinking a game game I consider "bad" though. I'm usually pretty forgiving at least giving game a free pass into "mediocre" territory . Heck, the only reason I smack talk MM and Kingdom Hearts is because everyone acts like they're the best thing to happen to gaming (ugh, that's why we get so many reamkes and spinoffs). Nothing with Emo cloaks or the Great Bay Temple should ever approach "best game evarr!!11" Territory IMO.

From a gameplay standpoint, the only remotely good part of Fragile Dreams was like the last hour or two basically (though again, 5 stars for story at atmosphere).

I don't really like Fire Emblem that much but I love the support system.

I haven't been fully invested in Animal Crossing since the original, and I don't think I really ever will. But there are parts of it I do love, especially obvious K. K. Slider, who is the best.
