I know this thread is about anime but the only good giant robot anime that I've seen that is worth recommending is none other than Voltron but you're already seen that Mickeymac and so therefore I can only recommend Transformers: Animated and Sym-Bionic Titans as both of those are immensely incredible. Sym-Bionic Titans is more of a nod to Voltron and it is by far the best recently produced show featuring giant robots.
Thanks, but I'm only interested in Anime. Just as a note, I did watch Transformers: Animated, and it wasn't bad, but I have too much nostalgia for the earlier Anime shows to appreciate it. Oh, and the art style of Sym-Biotic Titans is just plain ugly.
Hmm...ugly? I don't know about that, but what I do know is that you need to give the show a serious chance and view it with an open mind.
The episodes get better and better and it's gotten so much praise from sites like iO9.com and SyFy magazine. The episodes are purely magical. It's better than Transformers I think.
Looking at everything so far... Your so damn picky it hurts.
Hey hey now, I'm writing everything down and giving them a fair shake when I have a chance, but everyone has their tastes. Of the ones I've gone through with, though, I've only had a chance to watch 7 shows, 4 of which already turned out into some of my favorite series, and only one I didn't care for (Legend of the Galactic Heroes). I'll probably watch FLCL, too, once I'm done with some short series I've already started. I have it on DVD but never watched it. Now I have the motivation to actually go through it. Thank you.
I liked Titan for a while but it's gotten worse over time, IMO. There's too many characters and back story for him to carry on with this monster of the week formula for so long but every time there's story and character development it just seems so...off, somehow. I'm going to keep watching but I don't look forward to it every week like I did in the beginning. Right now it just seems to me that the creator should have stuck with Samurai Jack style shows, with one central character and new stories every week because, right now, he utterly fails at a over reaching plot.

@Popyman, I think that Samurai Jack is an epic classic and I do believe that I shall go back and watch that again. I wish that they'd also make a spin-off on The Powerpuff Girls that would focus exclusively on Mojo Jojo.
I understand your point Popyman and I'm wondering about that to and yet I know Genddy will fix all that or at lest I hope so. I'm really enjoying Sym-Bionic Titans and so far the pilot episode, "Escape to Sherman High", "Roar of the White Dragon", "Shaman of Fear" and "Shadows of Youth" are my favorite episodes.

Shows that I need to rewatch:

Check out Mazinkaiser, and Dai-Guard, both pretty decent giant robot anime series. Dai-Guard is quite funny, too. Martian Successor Nadesico, is decent, too. The protagonist is a bit annoying sometimes, though.

Added to the list. Actually, I started Nadesico a while back but never finished it. I got about halfway through and stopped for no good reason. I'll have to pick it up again sometime, since I liked what I saw. I also watched a few episodes of Mazinger Z, but I have no time for a 92 episode series, so a 7 episode series like Mazinkaiser is right up my alley. Thank you.

Actually, thanks a lot for that. I only had a few episodes left and I just finished it. I'm sad that it's over. I liked it a lot, it was subtley deep with plenty of humor while being serious when it needs to be. A wonderful show, that was exactly what I needed at the moment. Again, thanks a bunch.
I watched FLCL and Gurren Lagann through to the end and now they're two of my favorite anime. I also watched Ghost in the Shell for a few episodes, but it's not to my taste. Same with Transformers: Prime. Star Driver was to my taste, but it's not been licensed in the U.S, yet. Also, Cyborg 009 was taken off due to there only being the first 8 episodes available. I'm currently watching Mazinkaiser and I'm enjoying it very much.
@MIckeymac The Ghost in the Shell anime starts off boring but it gets incredible later on. I really was not interested but my brother forced me to watch it further and I ended up loving it. Just my two cents.
I dunno what's wrong with some of these writers for anime, just get to the point already!
