Yeah, Eureka 7 had some great mecha and a decent story from what I remember of it. A tad confusing, though, but I really should rewatch it. And Star Driver is great, I hope it gets licensed in the U.S. someday.
I know this thread is about anime but the only good giant robot anime that I've seen that is worth recommending is none other than Voltron but you're already seen that Mickeymac and so therefore I can only recommend Transformers: Animated and Sym-Bionic Titans as both of those are immensely incredible. Sym-Bionic Titans is more of a nod to Voltron and it is by far the best recently produced show featuring giant robots.

Transformers: Prime has been pretty good if you know some of the backstory. The humans are annoying as always, except for the Asian chick, she's funny xD

It's already been said, but Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is awesome and you should watch it. Gundam 00 was pretty amusing, too, especially the fights...

SoltyRei. No one knows it. It's an amazing show though. It's mostly only human-sized cyborgs, but I think it counts because there are a few giant ones in there.
Oh, don't give up on it early. It starts out seemingly very standard/cliche but within a few episodes you will be hooked.
Guys seriously! If you want a show that is worth watching with giant robots please check out this episode of Sym Bionic Titans! It's deliciously good. I can't provide a link to the actual episode but here is the name of the episode that I think you guys will enjoy. Episode: Phantom Ninja

BTW I seem to remember a show called MEGA LZR or something of that nature. I never really watched it but I know it had nice big titanic robots as well.
BTW another good SBT episode with some nice China Town action is "Roar of the White Dragon".

Alright, you convinced me, Jumpmad. Besides, now that my morality is preventing me from watching more Star Driver, I need something else to watch when I'm too tired to think.

Thanks, but I'm only interested in Anime. Just as a note, I did watch Transformers: Animated, and it wasn't bad, but I have too much nostalgia for the earlier Anime shows to appreciate it. Oh, and the art style of Sym-Biotic Titans is just plain ugly.
How about FLCL? :B (yes the robots aren't that giant-- except the second last one maybe) Okay so it's not mech.. You said you wanted robots.. right? Well then again ... You also said you thought geass was over the top. Also - watch it dubbed, It's one of those rare dubs that surpasses the original. Looking at everything so far... Your so damn picky it hurts. They've shown it on adult swim a few times so you may have already seen it.
