I think Blast Ball looks boring but the actual Federation Force part of the game looks cool, Blast Ball should really just be an uprezzed Hunter multiplayer though.

Yeah, I'm also interested in the new Metroid. I hope it'll have a good single player campaign, since aparently it'll be hard to find other players online
anabe reminded us about the ending of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. After Samus’s ship flies off into the distance, another ship suddenly appears. He said that players Metroid Prime Hunters should recognize that the ship belongs to a bounty hunter called Sylux. "He’s actually chasing after Samus, and that’s where that game ends," Tanabe said. "There’s still more I want to build around the story of Sylux and Samus. There’s something going on between them. I want to make a game that touches upon [it]."
"I’m also thinking that, in that eventual game between Sylux and Samus that might get made, that I wants to involve the [Galactic] Federation as well," he said. "So it would be a good idea to release a game like Federation Forces to flesh out its role in the galaxy before moving on to that.
Sounds like this is the ODST of the Metroid series and there might be a Metroid Prime 4 game in the works. If next level is doing FF, I hope we see Prime 4 and a post fusion 2D game announced soon.

I'm the complete opposite. Blast Ball looks really cool. I can't see anything fun in FF.

OK guys, sidenote; The puppets at the very beginning of the Digital Evenr are scaring me; the tilting faces, the one emotion on their faces, the close ups... it looked like they were directly staring into your soul... shudders
Starfox, puppets, paper jam, fire emblem, super Mario maker, and Xenoblade were good. Possibly even Zelda. Everything else was absolutely horrible. It was a punch in the face to Animal Crossing and Metroid fans, and nothing amazing showed up. Besides EA, Nintendo had the worst E3 conference by far.
As a Zelda fan, I felt a punch in the face too. I was willing to wait for Zelda U next year. But then they teased Zelda with that Mario Maker trailer. And they opened with the title screen. I was so excited until I saw this was another of those stupid multiplayer Zeldas. It was like someone invited me in and pulled the carpet under my feet
Gotta disagree. Since I was actually listening to what they had to say about the game, it sounded like a natural progression from the initial Zelda U tease in January 2015. Remember that they wanted to break up the set order of dungeons (a la LBW) and they didn't want players to feel like they always had to do it alone (hence the focus on a co-op Zelda that's actually co-op and not just competitive trolling disguised as it). On top of that, I loved Four Swords. And to the Japanese gamers, top-down is the real Zelda (so I've heard) and tge 3D stuff isn't as fun to play. Considering Nintendo is stationed in Japan, naturally thise voices will always be the loudest.

Not a muppets fan I take it? I really hope they show up in a direct or two.

So I finally got around to watching the Digital Event as I was not home when it was on live, and I must say I think people are greatly overreacting. They specifically mentioned they were only talking about games coming out in the coming months, which all but SMT x FE were at latest early 2016. They quite possibly have a new 3D Mario, a more standard Metroid, and many others well into development and just didn't want to show them since they are still too far away. I know the other companies show those games anyway, but I think that is a mistake (I only own Nintendo consoles and so don't follow other games too much, but I couldn't believe when I saw games like The Division and Rainbow Six:Siege aren't out yet because I've heard about those for years, and they pale in comparison to The Last Guardian). And I know the little they showed in the Digital Event of the new Animal Crossing Wii U looked lackluster, but it also looked like there could be a lot more to it than a simple board game (Bug-offs, visitors, etc.). The consensus has been seeing games in the Treehouse has changed many perspectives, so give them a chance. Basically, I suppose it was a little tame compared to what you expect from E3, but if you just think of it as another Nintendo Direct looking at the most closely upcoming games, it was great.

When Aonuma talked about not wanting to have players play alone, it was the most skeptical point of the direct for me. I play Zelda to get thrown into an incredible world that I can manipulate to solve puzzles and discover secrets. Having other people there kicks me out of the experience. Having multiple people there that I have to co-operate with makes it even worse. I won't feel any more individual immersion.
While I have no problem with 2D puzzle solving, 2D Zelda combat is incredibly bland and frustrating.

Frustrating? How in the world is 2D Zelda combat frustrating? Simple, maybe, even rediculously easy, but frustrating? You gotta be kidding me.
Frustrating was the wrong word. What I mean is that it's not enjoyable. Even fighting a hard enemy isn't particularly fun. That's what I was trying to get at with "frustrating". If I die to a hard enemy due to sword combat, I don't feel motivated to pick up and try again

And oh yeah, people seem to be forgetting that unlike all the other companies there, E3 for Nintendo lasts for more than an hour. When you factor in all the stuff days before this (like Smash, Mother 1, the NWC), that they will still be showing things all week, and those of us not there will actually get to play Mario Maker a couple of times this week, Nintendo's E3 becomes even better.

Yes, but the Digital Event is the flagship event. It's the event that gets people hooked into the other stuff.

I haven't watched the PC conference but Nintendo's whole E3 presence has been fantastic so far. Star Fox plays amazingly, glad we got so many surprises (not looking forward to all of them but more than Microsoft and Sony's offerings combined) This was a good year for Nintendo E3 overall
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
Well, sleep caught up with me and I missed the PC Gaming conference, but here's my final scorecard for those I did catch:
Sony - 9/10. Right out of the gate, they drop a bomb. A bomb with gameplay. Then new IP. With gameplay. And it just kept going. New games, more gameplay, 3rd party deals, and then oh yeah, two more gigabombs. Nice demo of Uncharted, even with the technical hiccups. One of the best conferences I've ever seen.
Square Enix - 8/10. I have to give them high points for being the company that finally convinced me that I should have a PS4. A Platinum-developed sequel to Nier with the best "dream team" I've seen assembled since Chrono Trigger. It's going to be great. Otherwise, great balance of Western and Japanaese games, interesting in depth look at a few of their upcoming games.
Microsoft - 6/10. Well, I feel they didn't do anything wrong, but didn't really drop any big surprises either. They played it safe. They relied on their big franchises like Halo, Gears, and Forza, as expected. The Rare collection was nice. Their new IP looks OK too, though maybe not what I expected. Backwards compatibility is a big thing though and I hope it's well implemented.
Nintendo - 3/10. Dull, dull, dull, and it's quite clear that the development teams are focused on NX. StarFox, though visually pretty dated, actually looks very fun, though they even failed to mention that Platinum was working on it. The event was bloated with developer stories that nobody wanted to see in the middle of game reveals, old trailers, and other filler. Some games announced, but they're all quick, thrown-together spin-offs.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I guess I'll give reviews for the ones I saw as well.
Bethesda: 6/10 - I'll give them props for being all about the games, but they just don't seem to have anything that interests me personally. What they showed looked really good for those interested, though.
Microsoft: 7/10 - Another one all about the games. I'll give them a slight edge over the above, just for the fact that some of the indies & Rare Rewind caught my eye. Most everything else looked nice, even if it wasn't up my alley (I'll need to look up the video for Halo 5 though, as the video I was watching was messing up during the demo, and I've always been curious about the series). Oh, Recore looked intriguing as well, though we only had a CGI trailer to go off of.
Sony: 9/10 - TLG, Shenmue III, World of Final Fantasy, Street Fighter V, Horizon, Oh my! Pretty stoked about the FFVII remake as well, but in the sake of fairness, I realize it was just a CGI trailer as well, so I can't give it too much credit (yet). Call of Duty looked like good dumb fun as always, some of the indies caught my eye, and I should really get into Uncharted (I enjoyed what I had played of the first one, though I'm yet to beat it). Of course, not EVERYTHING will be of interest, but I don't think there was anything that particularly bored me, either.
Nintendo: 8/10 - I can understand the disappointment if you are someone who'se invested a lot in their Wii U, but as someone still using the 3DS as their main gaming platform, I found a few titles to be REALLY excited about. Even though it leaked shortly before, I'm way more stoked by Hyrule Warriors Legends than I have any right to be, while Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam looks like the most awesome Mario RPG in a looong time, IMO. The more I watch it, the more I'm starting to like Metroid Prime: Federation Force as well. As for the Wii U stuff? I legitimately thought Star Fox Zero looked really great (even graphically), and with the transformations revived from SF2, I thought people were going to be way more hyped for it than they were. As someone who isn't even into the main AC series, the spinoffs and how lackluster they may or may not be didn't effect how I viewed the event either way. As for FE:F, SMM, YWW, & FEXSMT? While they didn't show anything excitingly new, they've always looked interesting to me, and that hasn't changed now.
Square Enix: 8/10 - KINGDOM HEARTS III!!! Other than that, new Neir, Star Ocean 5, and even Lara Croft GO looked interesting. Of course the two games announced during the Sony event (WoFF & FFVII*) are still interesting announcements, even if they didn't have the same amount of oomph here. Heck, even Just Cause 3 looked pretty fun, and I'm not usually into that type of game. As for everything else? It was nice to see how they swapped between western & Japanese development teams at regular intervals.
Unravel looks great. That poor guy though, he was really nervous. Also, I was really impressed with the Twitch chat during that segment - they weren't toxic towards him.
Granted, Nintendo's E3 digital event was lacking. But consider they sprinkled a lot of different things throughout this week. There are a ton of games I am excited for, Super Mario Maker, Chibi-Robo, Yoshi's Woolly World, (comes out a week or so after my birthday) Starfox Zero, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, Yo-kai Watch, Xenoblade Chronicles, and those are all 2015 games.
When I actually looked at all the games coming in 2015 that I am interested in from Nintendo, it is quite a bit, and that's all first party. That's not including Fatal Frame, or Devil's Third.
2016 looks promising with Shen Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Zelda Wii U, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, and Fire Emblem Fates. I expect them to announce more games for 2016 in the fall and january/february 2016.
