@D-Star92 Good to know. Isn't that the show where Scrooge McDuck and co. travel all around the world and its fantastical locations, and get themselves into exciting kind of scenarios in the process? As well as being funny at times? Sounds like my type of show if that is the case. Would you say the game's like that to a certain degree?

@PeterTomlan86 Yes it is. Been enjoying watching it! I remember seeing it on Disney Channel way back when, too. I would say yes, there's five different areas to explore and you'd get treasures along the way.
@Tasuki If it helps you to know, I ended my playthrough with $8 million.
I'm sure there are some people here that didn't read my thoughts on Nostalgia since it was a long message and maybe some people haven't read a question I asked from said post. Has anyone here played the game? And did anyone enjoy it?

I'm going to pop on DuckTales 2 tonight. I had a really crappy time with Chip n' Dale 2 last week. What a collosal let down compared to the iconic legendary original which as we know was and still is a certified bonafied classic. A wasted bland poorly designed soulless watered down and sounding sequel that felt like it was created just to bank off the branding and success of the original. It had to of been handed over to a lesser Capcom division. The later NES titles from Capcom always managed to feel less than half baked, including Mega Man 5&6, and now Chip n Dale 2.
I'd feel like a total sucker spending $600-something for the cartridge off eBay. I wouldn't even take it for free. I have confidence that DT2 will be the better experience, but it most likely won't live up to the original. Especially it's soundtrack. Different devs, different musicians, all at the end of the NES's life cycle.
@NeonPizza Yeah Chip N Dale 2 was a let down the only reason it goes for as much as it does is because of the first one and the limited amount due to it coming out near the lifespan of the NES. Alot of people wanted it because the first one was so good and figures the second one has to be better. I think overall I played it twice once on the cartridge which I only payed $5 for for a C.I.B. copy and again on the PS4 version of Disney Afternoon Collection.
Ducktales 2 suffers the same as Chip N Dale 2 sadly. The music is forgettable and the level design was bland. Nothing compared to the first one. Thats a other one I played twice once when I rented it from my local grocery store when I was a kid and then again on the PS4 DAC. Its a shame that they didnt add the Gameboy version of Ducktales to the Switch version. Yeah it kinda of followed the same thing as the Mega Man games on Game Boy where it was just redesigned levels but I'd take that any day over Ducktales 2.
I known it would be possible do to it being done by Wayforward but even the Ducktales Remaster would have been better then Ducktales 2 lol.

Finished 2 games in the span of 2 days which is pretty damn impressive for me as I'm awful when it comes to actually beating things.
Splatoon 3: Side Order
I enjoyed this but I was definitely ready for it to end. I had a few close call during the last couple of stages and was not in the mood to start again, though (as is the case with roguelikes) the last few steps felt easier than I expected thanks to all those chips I had accumulated. Now that the pressure of reaching the top has subsided, I feel a bit more positive about the idea of dipping back into it! As for how it compares to Octo Expansion, I only got about halfway through before dropping it but that was a few years ago and I feel like my Splatoon skills have definitely come on since then especially through Side Order so maybe I'll give it another go at some point.
Super Mario Galaxy (Main Story)
Was aiming to beat this before the arrival of the movie and I'm so glad I got to see the ending for myself. I can see why this game is held in such high regard and my only regret is not playing it sooner. There's such an emotional weight to it at times that I remain skeptical as to whether Illumination will do it justice. They've certainly got the look of it down but when it comes to the narrative, I'm still a little cautious.
@Tasuki
Oh that's pretty cool. So you played DT2 when it originally came out? For whatever reason both sequels escaped me, or maybe it's because i had already checked out magazine reviews through GamePro or Nintendo Power and they noted that they were clear step downs compared to the originals, aside my friends and i being so wrapped up in SNES & Genesis back in 93' I was still playing NES here and there, but it had taken a back seat by that point. 1992 was the last decent year for NES imo, with the likes of Bucky O' Hare, maybe Mega Man 5, Darkwing Duck, Monster in my Pocket, Gargoyle's Quest II, TMNT III: The Manhatten Project etc
And I never got around with DT on GameBoy. I'm guessing it borrows heavily from the orginal, but switches things up a little along the way, with slower gameplay which seems to be standard fair with GB ports, and it's probably missing a couple of stages too. I really like Mega Man: Wily's Revenge for GB. It's a riff off of MM1, cuts out 2 Robot Masters, but switches things up a little and it includes a new villain, Enker. I remember it being like 2x as slow as NES Mega Man, and the aspect ratio/screen is zoomed right in on the sprites. Probably doesn't hold up, just like both of the Castlevania GB Games.
And I had DuckTales Remastered back on Wii U. Never really got around to it other than popping it on for 15 minutes. I think my biggest peeve with that one, even after the Pogo meganic patch, was the excess dialogue which just doesn't work for a game like this. Supposedly WF added in the option to either skip or reduce the dialogue after an update. Would be nice if they re-released it on Switch, including their magnum opus Contra 4 from DS. Shantae this, Shantae that. Contra 4 is where it's at.
@NeonPizza Yeah by the time DT2 came out I was into SNES, heck even most of the video stores in my area where done with NES games and weren't carrying them even to rent, but for some reason thos grocery store had Ducktales 2 for rent. Mind you it wasnt like going into a traditional video store but back in the late 80s up to mid 90s the grocery stores had a small area with movies and and a few games to rent. This one in particular had alot of the less common games which was interesting its where I would rent games like Ducktales 2, Darkwing Dark Contra Force (yikes) Mega Man 6 and a few others. It was once one of the few places that rented Genesis games too which I thought was neat at the time.
From what I remember Ducktales had all the stages from the NES version just designed different. Game play was the same and story was the same. Last time I played it was pre-pandemic when I happen to come across a copy of it at a flea market. I want to say there was also a GB version of Darkwing Duck as well.
For what it was worth I did enjoy the Remaster but they did add a lot of fluff. The bosses actually used tactics against you and you could only hit them at certain points or with certain objects plus the added levels where just way to long. Ducktales for me anyway is one of those comfort games where I can turn off my brain and enjoy it mainly from playing it so much as a kid. I couldnt really do that with the remaster.

Pokémon Crystal (3DS Virtual Console)
Last night I finished capturing all the legendary/mythical Pokémon (Celebi, Suicune, Raikou, Lugia, Entei, Ho-Oh, in that order).
This was something I always wanted to do, so I was very happy with it. 😀
I had never finished Crystal before, and I think doing it in the 30th anniversary year was a good time.
Finished Gunman Clive on the Switch today. A cute little Mega Man like platformer with some great stage design. I just love the simplicity of this games especially the graphics. This is my second time beating it then first time was on the 3DS years ago.

Hah! Never got around to Contra Force thankfully, or even Super C until the late 2000's when it dropped onto the Wii's VC. Not as iconic as the original, nor was it's soundtrack in league, but it's still a good time and I've grown to appreciate and actually prefer the over head stage's vs the originals 3rd person Base levels.
But the original Contra? I received a brand new copy back in 1990-ish as a gift when my mom came back from her vacation in Hawaii. Her handing it to me, and catching a glimpse of the cover box art and just that moment will forever be etched into my mind. Yet Operation C(GameBoy. Although i experienced it in like 2011/2012 on a GBA SP) is still my favourite, or was, along aside Contra III, which was amazing back in the early 90's, as everybody knows that was there.
But if i really want to get my contra fix on, while peeling off those nifty nostalgia shades and being completely honest with myself based on what holds up these days in comparison to what we've got now. Well, I'd go with the indie gem Super Cyborg, Along with JoyMasher's Blazing Chrome and maybe Contra 4. Contra 3 holds up wonderfully too, but the same can't be said for Contra, Super C, Operation C and even Hardcorps which doesn't grant you a lock and aim weapon firing mechanic. It has to be switched manually on or off which completely breaks it. I still beat it 7 times back in my 20's, and unlocked all the endings. No easy feat! But i can't get into that one anymore for the reason above. Contra is one of my favourite franchises, so.
There's also Iron Meat from RetroWare, but it comes across like a diluted bare bones CIII clone, while heavily banking on it's blood & gore to differentiate itself from the pack. It's decent, but painfully uninspired and didn't come close to matching the experience i had with Super Cyborg, which imo makes Contra I, Super C & Operation C obsolute, other than for nostalgia.
And Contra 4 desperately needs a Switch 1/2 port already. WayForward could just connect the DS screens and size it to fit a perfect Verticle aspect ratio. Oh! And i still need to play Hardcorps Uprising which has been left for dead on XBOX Live it seems, and maybe PS3? Surprised that one hasn't been brought over to the eShop either. And of course, unrelated to Contra > DuckTales Remastered.
My fondest memory of DuckTales NES must of been during the summer of 1990, after getting stiches in my foot, from an accident during a total fail at Crocodile Mile Slipping sliding in our backyard. Unfortunately, there was a shard of glass from a broken mug underneith the slide and it gashed my foot as I was sliding less than 10 feet in. lol After getting stiches from a near 1 inch wound at the top of my foot, i remember coming back home and playing that Translevania stage in DT and facing off against Magical DeSpell. Good times, minus the pain!
I just beat (Yakuza Kiwami 2) and I really liked it and would recommend it. It took me just over 22 hours to complete it. If you like beat'm'ups you'll like this game or if you like any of the other yakuza games you'll like it to.
Finally finished Mega Man X4, and I have to say that this is my favorite of the Mega Man games I’ve played. The difficulty is approachable but not insane, the music is still great even though it’s not quite as good as X and X2’s best, the stages are all fun except for the hovercraft level which is just mildly annoying when you get to used to it, and the bosses are balanced the best out of the series so far. The backtracking is the most improved compared to X3, with you being able to do levels in almost any order and not feel like you’re missing out on anything, provided you start with the volcano and jungle levels. The game adds cutscenes, which are charmingly dated but tell a pretty decent story all told. Being able to play as multiple characters is great, and Zero really feels enjoyable to play. This would be the game that I would recommend for people who are new to the series. It’s not overly punishing but it makes you work for a level clear. While I would call it my favorite, I don’t think it’s as good as X1 for the simple reason that the jump from NES to SNES was a little bigger than the jump from SNES to PS1. This series is resting on its laurels a bit, which I guess isn’t a bad thing since I’ve heard X5 nosedives in quality.
9/10 game, the overall collection is a 8/10 because a rewind feature would have been nice and the X challenge is just enemy spam, but the other added features are nice. Overall, I’m really glad I gave these games a shot since I didn’t like the NES ones at all. Turns out I just needed to look up where the items were and that would raise my enjoyment drastically. Going to take a break from the series for a while and try to push to the end of Octopath Traveler.

@NeonPizza Actually for me its always been the original Contra. I rented Super C a few times when I was a kid and Contra III when I was a teenager but I dont know its always been the original for me. I remember the first time I saw Contra. My friend got it from saving up his allowance and one day before school, he would always come over to my house before school and we would walk together to school he brought it over. He popped it in and showed me the first level. I was amazed. Just the fast paced gameplay and the fact you shot guns at your enemies, and then seeing a fortress as the first boss!!!! Then later that day talking to some other friends on the playground I leaned about the Konami code. At first I thought they were just making it up and the school day seemed to go on forever till I was able to get home and try it. Then that feeling of forever between hitting the start button and seeing 30 in your lives counter. Then the feeling of excitement when you saw 30 lives. That feeling was so cool like you just pulled off some long lost secret of the game. You felt like you belonged to some sort of secret club. I went through and beat the game that night but what a game. The level design with levels like the Energy Zone and Snowfield. Then ending with going inside the alien and attacking its heart.
I dont known but the other games didn't impress me like the first one did. Even now playing them on the Contra Collection I dont have as much time on them as I do the first game.

After Triggerheat Exelica left a bad taste in my mouth, I had to try a different shmup immediately in order to restore my faith in the genre.
DoDonPachi DaiOuJou Blissful Death
My oh my what a game to rebound onto. Gameplay? Buttery smooth, sans some slowdown during on-screen chaos. Music? While the boss music isn't my cup of tea, the tracks used up until that encounter are more my taste. Tap/press attack system; you either hold attack for more power or tap attack for more maneuverability. And my ship's hitbox feels generous as I thread many needles.
Looks good, feels good, sounds good.
Maybe not a top-five favorite shmup, but it feels like money well spent.
And with the modest time of 6 hours and 30 minutes I have beaten Resident Evil 3 Nemesis.
I have played it before but never beaten it. I have never even got to the Clock Tower area.
And now that I have finished it I can repeat with full confidence that we were robbed by Capcom The Remake is just badly made DLC compared to the original in terms of content.
They got reused sewers from RE2R, reused lab from RE2R instead of the cool looking Clock Tower, Park and Dead Factory.
I guess this is the price to pay when trying to rush the release in order to cashout ...

Finished Ratcheteer DX last night. Decent little Zelda like. Nothing that spectacular but it scratches a Zelda itch for sure. And at only $10, it’s worth the 5hrs.
