Megaman Star Force
people don't hate it but they also don't really like it much.

I don't think people hate it. I think the ds offerings are the weakest of the franchise but even with that said they still offer much more then most games. Every series has a weak point but even so they still can be really good games!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I guess the latest example would be Senran Kagura. I lost 3 people from my friends list shortly after I marked it as my favourite game.
Outside of Nintendo platforms, I'd count Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, since the CV fanbase is unpleasable.

yeah people tend to overreact about this game.

I do wonder why people give that one flake, but not Dead and Alive? I don't know much about Senran
Yup, that's the one. But Dead or Alive had its fair share of bashing, but by now, people don't care anymore. It's an established series, and fighting game fans praise it a lot, so it has enough redeeming quality.
I guess Senran Kagura leaves a bad taste with some people because they don't know about its strengths (like the plot and character development), but that's partly because of one-sided advertisement.

yeah the advertisement was pretty much "buy this game it has busty girls in underwear" they could have at least focused a little more on the gameplay.

yeah it kind of does. personally my problem is the story is garbage. Samus gets freaked out over an enemy she has fought before. Samus runs across a hot area, just following some contrived order until Adam allows her to use her heating whatever.
I'm all for giving Samus depth, but this game takes it the wrong idea and just makes her seem less like a tough bounty hunter and more like some fawning wimp.

Oh, I agree completely. That characterization was straight up awful. But I found the gameplay fun and addictive. Team Ninja did great work there. On that level, I actually enjoyed it more than Prime (though Prime was definitely a better game overall).
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

yep people need to stop thinking that for a character to be deep it needs to be angsty and easily scared...

yes one of the reasons why i like Uncharted and Nathan Drake is because he isn't a angsty person. He doesn't mop around like some emo.

And this is why I find Batman to be overrated. He's a man-child, refusing to even try to deal with his emotional issues. It gets tiring after 80 years of publication. I mean, by comparison, look at Tony Stark. The Demon in a Bottle storyline was rough, but he works through it and conquers his alcoholism. He's constantly trying to improve himself as a person. He's flawed, but trying. I find that much more interesting than a 40-year old billionaire stricken with wangst.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that having your parents killed in front of you as a child would have pretty adverse effects on most people. And many writers have portrayed him in different ways. It's hard to do, but I find the most compelling Bats is one that has so much love but constantly keeps up his wall because it's the only way to keep up his persona.
