Topic: Games you could never get into

We've all been there. Your one friend tells you all about this "awesome" game/series that you need to play, so eventually you cave in and buy it. And then you play it and you just aren't that into it. No matter how much you want to like that game, you just can't.
So what are some games/gaming franchises that you could never get into?

God of War comes to mind immediately for me. I've tried so many times, but it just doesn't stick.
Some others for me also include all of the GTA games (except Vice City and 5), Sonic the Hedgehog, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Batman Arkham Origins, Elder Scrolls, any Call of Duty game since World at War, Gran Turismo, Pokemon Black/White, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Galaxy 2 (might give it another try) and Super Paper Mario.

Xenoblade Chronicles and the other Japanese Wii RPGs. Also, I initially did not get into Mario Strikers.

God first.

Pokemon X. Got it for Christmas 2013 and played it for about 10 hours in a couple of days. I haven't touched it since then. Also, Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
I've had the game for over a year and I've literally only beat 2 levels.

Mario Kart 8
Pikmin 3

Bravely Default

Indies
Fez
Gone Home
Papers Please
Dementium II HD
Unepic
Limbo (?)

Mutant Mudds Deluxe

More interesting are ones that I didn't get for ages (But now are some of my favourite games)
like e.g Nights into Dreams and even Sonic Generations to an extent (I didn't start really liking it until I had finished it and started trying to play it properly).

Zelda for the NES. Only because Link doesn't swing his sword, instead he just stabs in one direction, which makes attacking enemies harder than it needs to be.

I also can't get into Pikmin. I got Pickmin 3, but I feel rushed when playing it. Maybe if the day cycle was longer I could get into it.

Games I can't get into because they aren't my bag:

  • Any Fire Emblem before Awakening and after Gaiden
  • Ikaruga
  • XCOM
  • U.N. Squadron
  • Everything Kirby (except Kirby 64, which is just a bad game)

Games I can't get into because they are terrible games yet people still swear by them for some reason:

  • Yoshi's Island
  • Final Fantasy VI
  • Super Mario World
  • Atelier PS3 games
  • Golden Sun
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • Secret of Mana (almost did, then I finally realized that the mechanics are terrible to the point of being barely playable)
  • Panzer Dragoon Orta
  • Sin & Punishment 2
  • Dark Souls
  • Demon's Souls
  • Metal Gear Solid 4
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • Baldur's Gate
  • Bioshock
  • Skyward Sword
  • Majora's Mask
  • Oracle of Ages
  • Zelda II
  • Phantasy Star II

zelda. always get stuck. the puzzles are just not logical to me at all. or i miss tiny things on the walls. just very frustrating. i hope i will never buy another zelda game again because of all the hype they get. so far i have bought and tried twilight princess (stuck in wind tempel), a link to the past (couldnt beat some enemies, maybe a glitch?), spirit tracks (instead of going on the save point i got on the teleport and got kicked to the beginning of a dungeon again which looked the same and then i quit thinking i would have saved), link's awakening (stuck after the second dungeon i think, i really hate the trade-quest). i also got zelda I and II as a 3DS ambassador. the first one is too hard and the second one is one of the worst games i have ever played!
the only zelda game i could finish was ocarina of time 3D but i needed to look up a wlakthrough a few times. it was quite good and my "favourite" zelda game behind twilight princess. TP had the best world and atmosphere IMO

oh and i can not get into fighting games. no smash for me. ever.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two got swept up in a snaggle of games that are more fun and look better on my HDTV. (See'sing as how I got a PS3 at the same time, and this was the Wii version that I wanted for the pointer controls.) That, and I haven't even finished the first game yet because I keep tiring of that one!

All of those slow-paced 3D platformer games like that were games that I would start a file in, lose interest in, and then eventually come back and start a new file in because I forgot where I left off. It was only last year that I finally beat Donkey Kong 64 and this year that I beat Banjo-Kazooie.

Survival Horrors because they tend to make me freak out and I've never really gotten into any games where you don't have direct control over a character (Strategy games like Civilisation for eg).

It's Wario time Yaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

moomoo

Minecraft. I just don't get it.

Non-arcade sports games. I just don't really find them fun, nor do I see the fun. I'd rather watch/play the actual sport. I like Virtua Tennis, though, since it's a nice blend of arcade and realism.

LittleBigPlanet games just don't click with me. The platforming just isn't fun for me. The creation tools and community are great, but I don't like the game underneath that. Such a shame.

Street Fighter games aren't my cup of tea. Too slow-paced for me. I much prefer Blazblue, the Vs. games, and Dead or Alive.

The Uncharted games. They have functional gameplay, but I just don't care about Nathan Drake or the world around him. When story is such a big focus of the series, it really hampers your game if you don't care about what's happening.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star because it is a terrible game.

A lot of NES-era games have aged really badly. Metroid 1, Zelda 2, etc.

Best thread ever

I can't get into NES and SNES games. Perhaps it's due to the fact that I didn't grow up with most of these games and so I don't feel any particular nostalgia towards them. I still have quite a few NES and SNES games on my Wii U, but I haven't seen most of them to completion. I absolutely love Game Boy games though, warts and all.

Metroid Prime Trilogy

I couldn't get into starfox.. I tried the one released for the 3DS, but I just found it rather repetitive to play, and the dialog/characters rather anti-climatic... and from what I heard the one with fox on land were just bad so I never bothered with those either.

I'm a weird person that tends to like everything but I could not get into Fire Emblem. It always just comes across as Advance Wars with needless complications combined with a less compelling Final Fantasy Tactics but mostly it just doesn't interest me enough to get past how infuriating it is when I make a mistake. And not in a fun way.

Also, Vanquish was probably DOA of being anything better than "ok" for me once I played it and realized I was playing a Gears of War where the best gameplay elements are criminally difficult to use properly. Speaking of which, I don't like Gears of War and I'm hoping cover shooters die already.

Games that never appealed to me, so I've never tried or considered trying:
Sonic
GTA
Most First Person Shooters
The Elder Scrolls series
Any Survival Horror Game

Games I've played, and that I can see the appeal of, but I personally couldn't get into:
Super Mario Bros. 3 -It's just way too slippery. I'd just rather play Super Mario World. But I totally get why people like it.
The New Super Mario Bros series
FIFA

Popular games I've played that I actually think are either bad, or are significantly inferior to most games in their series:
Mario Kart: Double Dash- The idea is cool, but the execution is atrocious. The mechanics feel like someone poured oil slick on the track, the item roster is incredibly slim, due to many new and old items being divided among characters. And the dual racer aspect added little to the game

Tales of the Abyss- What a disappointment. It's not bad, but most of the characters are annoying, the story is confusing, the technobabble introduced within the first hour is ridiculous, and the Villain is anticlimactic.

Pokemon Black/White- "Lets remove all gameplay elements except for capturing and battling, and focus on a simple, average at best story that makes the game seem self aware"

Super Mario 3D World- It's such a shame that such great level design is trapped behind stiff and obtuse mechanics and a dated control scheme

Link's Awakening- Not a bad game, but literally everything it did, one of the Oracle games did better.

Popular games that don't DESERVE recognition, and I proudly hate:
Angry Birds
Candy Crush Saga
Plague Inc.

I have zero respect for developers who shamelessly copy such a major part of a game and get rich off of it.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
