Hey everyone, what video games should become movies? Most adaptions are terrible, but I think it's because they pick games that don't have much story. (Doom anyone?) Maybe if they picked some big blockbuster game franchises, they could make it work. I have high hopes for the Assassin's Creed movie in the works. I also think Halo would make a great movie, but I don't know about Gears of War because it doesn't have the deepest story, but then again it could be a good popcorn flick. What do you guys think?
Currently Playing: Xbox 360: Arkham City, MW3, Gears 3, UMV3, Battlefield 3 PS3: inFAMOUS 2, LBP 2. Rachet & Clank: All 4 One, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3 Xperia Play: Crash Bandicoot iOS: Sonic CD, Infinity Blade, Arkham City Lockdown, Mega Man X, Chrono Trigger
A Zelda movie would be horrible, because Zelda doesn't have the deepest plot. Then again, GameInformer said Skyward Sword actually had a more complex plot with deeper characters you cared about.

@Link245 I can't help but agree, but inside I don't want to agree. If they do it right, or if they have Steven Spielberg working on it, there's a chance it will be the next Harry Potter.

no, no chance, a zelda movie would just be bad, PERIOD
movies tend to ruin things in general — books, video games, TV shows, you name it.

What line are you talking about? People don't like your Legend of Zelda idea, and you don't like my Punch-Out!! idea. I don't see any difference between the two, as long as we can both back-up our opinions.
The story of the Wii game is already very Rocky-esque, it has some of the best video game characters ever, and the art style is already perfect for animation. I know I was charmed by the small little cutscenes in between fights, and if they were really expanded upon and added to, I could see there being a good movie there.
That would be pointless. MGS4 was so great because it took full advantage of the video game medium to tell a story.
I'd LOVE to see a movie version of the Bioshock novel Rapture that came out a while ago. That book is perfect for a movie.
Also, I think a Legend of Zelda movie could be amazing--but it would have to be animated and Link would have to remain silent.

The game has... 9hrs of cutscenes? Shoving that into a 2hr movie would be horrible. It's good (isn't it?) like it is. I'm sure you've heard this, but from the time you finish gameplay to the end of the last cutscene, it's about 90min. There's no way they could fit the whole game into a movie, and since you pretty much have to play the previous games in the series to understand anything that happens, it just... wouldn't work
I would say the original MGS though, that would make a pretty cool movie. As long as they don't eff it up :shakefist:
