Well New Super Mario Bros. Wii could be great. I hope it rocks. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Well, I'm not saying that I won't get it, it looks great, but I don't think that it will be the GOTY because it has been milked for so long.
@MetalMario:Milking means releasing a sequel that has little to no change in the basic gameplay. Even if that is what fans want, it is still milked.

There was little change to the gameplay, that means it was milked. A bunch of games are milked, I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but just because there are only 4 other console 2-D Mario games doesn't mean it isn't milked.

Super Mario World was a little like Mario 3 and Mario World 2 was nothing like Mario World 1
New Super Mario Ds was a little like Mario 1 except it had a Mario 64 move set.
New Super Mario Wii looks like NSMDS with shades of Super Mario World, Mario 2 and Mario Arcade....
And this is 30 years worth of games, over 7 genertions or about the equivelent of a generation and a half of GTA's......
It matter not if we think it will be good or not, it sure as hell is not milked - lol! Mario Party in the GC era, that is milkage, this is nothing at all like that. Or no one would care....

I don't think NSMBWii will even be nominated for GOTY. It isn't anything we haven't seen before. It is something we have been seeing milked for the last twenty years.
We're not talking about just any ordinary Mario game here buddy ol' pal were talking a 2-D Mario adventure on a console. We don't see one of these every year now do we?

The real Mario two was exactly like Mario 1 and 3. SMW had new powerups and a new style, is is basically the same. NSMB had one new powerup, and NSMBWii looks a lot like it. And I was talking about the Mario series in general. About people not caring about milked games, obviously you care about Mario, a lot of people do, a lot of people care about CoD, GTA, and The Sims.

I only own Nintendo systems, so for the Wii and DS, the GOTY so far is probably Scribblenauts. Yeah, there's control quirks, but after awhile you adjust to them and then they're not a problem anymore. Easily one of the most creative (probably THE most creative) games of all time, and one of the most fun as well. My runner up would be either Wii Sports Resort or Punch-Out!!
Keep in mind I haven't had a chance to play Mario and Luigi 3 yet, which I've heard is the best game of the year so far from pretty much everyone.
And let's also remember that we still have New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Ledgend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks yet to come--two franchises that pretty much always win GOTY.

Ooh, I forgot about GTA Chinatown Wars. That was a really good game. Not as good as Professor Layton 2 or Scribblenauts, but it deserves a nomination for Handheld Game of the Year.

Thats were your wrong. It is not only a whole new adventure but it has a new multiplayer experience with holding 4 players to cooperatively go through the game. And much more.

New power-ups, new 4-player mode, new powerups.
How intelligent. They always have at least one new powerup, it doesn't effect the gameplay at all. 4 player is really the only new thing.
