Does anyone have any theory as to why these two titles were never re-released? FF Mystic Quest sort of had a re-release on Wii virtual console but not the kind of re-release/remaster the main entries received on multiple consoles. Illusion of Gaia as far as I know never has been re-released at all. Do you think we will ever see these two games again on a current/ future gen console?
Illusion of Gaia is a gem! Absolutely loved it as a kid though I remember it being super hard for me back then. Hope it gets released on NSO at some point.
I know mystic quest was treated as a "dumbed down" spin off made for American audiences, because apparently back then the popular thing to do was to assume gamers over here were not into difficult games or real RPGs (which maybe was true back then idk, but now it's not remembered very fondly).
So, I doubt Square Enix sees a point in remaking that one, considering the regular entries in the series do just fine now, and they probably see it as the ugly child.
It's honestly a wonder the game had representation in Curtain Call.

They could make a more difficult version of FF Mystic Quest but I guess not many people would care for it even if this version gets released.
It's probably like with Pokemon and the GameCube games.
They have the name, they're part of the series, but they're spin offs made by other people, so the main people behind the series couldn't care less about these games.
