Topic: Favorite Video Game trailer?

What is your favorite video game trailer? One that got you super hyped for a new game or one that still gives you chills watching it years later? Mine is definitely the BOTW E3 2017 Presentation; that one is just a masterpiece:

For a runner-up, I really love the Metroid Prime 4 teaser. It's really short, but I love how it gradually shows the big S coming in, then the music, then the 4. It's just timed perfectly:

Botw is one for sure. And believe it or not for me, Cadence of Hyrule. As soon as I faintly started hearing that theme song getting louder and louder in the trailer, and finally revealing it was a zelda crossover, I jumped up in excitement. Still love watching that trailer.

I will never forget how my jaw dropped at this lmao. After YEARS of hearing nothing, it came out of nowhere lol.

I also will never forget how hyped I got at this announcement! I loved everyone getting hyped at "Metroid 5" and then getting hyped once again after it was revealed to be Metroid dread 😂

I had watched this trailer pretty much every day until the game came out lmao. Whenever I watch it again I always remember how I felt waiting for it to release...good times lol

I'm always amazed by the wildlife and world in this one, everytime I watch the trailer I just get a craving to play the game again lol.

@Vortexeo I completely forgot about Dread! That trailer just left me speechless. It's Metroid 5. It's on the Switch. It's 2D-3D. There are killer robots. OH, IT'S METROID DREAD, NO BIG DEAL. It's coming out in like 4 months.

@StarPoint IKR! I think dreads reveal is within the top 5 announcement trailers for the switch. A lot of announcement trailers don't show much at first but Dread was one of those that gave us everything we needed lol.

Nintendo Switch Sports reveal trailer, I was shocked and confused that my Favourite Wii series was coming back... And looking like a space-age shopping mall...

I don't go in massively for game trailers, what with them tending to be so dominated with cinematics at the expense of accurately portraying the gameplay experience, and it's only really since 2014 that I began following gaming news closely enough to have much awareness of game trailers at all.

I tend to like them short and impactful, to minimise spoilers while maximising wishful hype. The trailer that springs to mind first when thinking of contenders for this topic is this one:

It came at a time that I was desperate for the Wii U to get the recognition and success it deserved, and I felt this trailer was a real cause for hope, with the music and visuals really exciting me.

I wasn't into watching E3 when I was a lot younger. but I did remember seeing the Trailer for Super Mario Galaxy online and was really excited for it's release. which I got the game on the last day of School for Summer Break. which was the day that the game came out, funny enough.

Super Mario Odyssey from E3 2017. I don't think we knew much about the game before that so seeing the transformation ability for the first time with Jump Up Super Star in the background was massively exciting.

@StarPoint I'm going to be honest, for me there's absolutely no competition because of that Breath of the Wild trailer from January 2017. I'd also put the E3 2016 trailer up there too, since it was essentially the same thing with the main theme and other tracks. As the trailer that broke almost a two year silence on that game... man it was something else.

The NSP 2017 trailer has given me goosebumps every time I watch it. It's that good.

@TheJGG Same here. It never gets old. I watch it every now and then and feel the exact same hype as I always did.

I can't exactly remember what year it was (probably 2005 or 2006) but I remember catching my first E3 on TV (remember when that was a thing?) and being absolutely blown away by the Twilight Princess trailer. I had largely moved on to the PS2 that gen (outside of my GBA), but that made me take notice and finally get a GameCube at the tail end of it's life.

Also, not a game in and of itself, but more recently the Sora reveal trailer for SSBU. KHIII had kinda let me down & I'm not sure how much I really care about the series anymore, but this was a childhood dream come true and I absolutely couldn't contain my excitement.

Still hoping to get my hands on an XSX someday.

Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast. Best trailer i've ever seen and still awesome today. Clip below is the Dreamcast intro but that is the same as the trailer they released

I was ~12 years old and I was watching this low-res, <1min trailer on repeat:

I was so excited for this game, but it never came out of Japan. I finally played it for the first time 15 years after its release. It was special to finally play that game that I was so excited about when I was a kid.

I don't wanna spam trailers, because I name quite a few but just off the top of my head.

-The E3 2016 and Switch event BOTW trailers (especially the latter, which is maybe the best trailer Nintendo has ever made)
-The Switch event and E3 2017 Mario Odyssey trailers
-A lot of Smash Bros trailers. Best ones being the first big E3 trailer for every game (including Melee, which was just the Melee intro), the K. Rool/Banjo double feature, Sephiroth and Terry.
-The first Xenoblade X trailer
-Dead Island 1 + 2's big trailers
-Twilight Princess reveal (duh)
-FFVIIR reveal (though outside of the hype for it existing, my favorite marketing of the game might've been the US commercial with the perfect song choice tbh)
-Those cool League of Legends trailers that until recently were sadly only used to market League of Legends
-All the classic TF2 character trailers, obviously
-The Other M reveal (I hate to say it, but likely the best Metroid trailer ever)

Though I'd like to give a shout out to this cool trailer for Soma, which is less a traditional trailer and more a scene of a super tense, sci-fi horror live action movie that doesn't exist:

Spider-Man ps4. I really like how it shows the danger that the sinister six bring. Best Spider-Man content regardless of if it is a game or movie since Spider-Man 2.

Super Mario Maker 2. Music was an absolute bop.
