So with Ant-man 2 releasing in July 2018 and Captain Marvel moving to March 2019 there is no Holiday Marvel movie again. 2017 will see Spider-Man released in the Holiday area meaning two years in a row there won't be a Marvel movie. I am counting Spider-Man as a Sony movie taking place in the MCU.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@Spoony_Tech, Sony owns the film rights to the character, but after the lukewarm reception of the last couple films, they decided to reboot it again, this time letting Marvel come in and connect it to the MCU.
Marvel still owns the rights to the character in all other areas (comics, games, etc.).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of a holiday-timed Marvel movie is due to the Star Wars films regularly taking over the annual holiday film-slot; with both being corporately-owned by Disney, it would make a certain sense from a marketing standpoint.
Both, Sony owns the rights, but Marvel is making the movie and its in the MCU. In fact Spider-man first appearance will be in next year's Civil War.
Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige are co-producing the 2017 movie, but it sounds like Marvel's involvement in solo films will just be as creative consultant. In Feige's words, it's "their movie." But Marvel will of course have control in all things concerning MCU appearances.
Spoony_Tech: Actually Fox has the Xmen and Fantastic Four movie rights.
Sony has Spiderman
Disney (due to owning Marvel) owns the rest.
And Namor is still in some licensing limbo. It's complicated, but I think the case is that Marvel can't make a movie without Universal signing off on it, and vice versa, and neither is in a position to work with the other in co-producing. Similar situation with the Hulk, as I believe Universal still has distribution rights to that character in solo movies. One of the reasons why we still don't have Hulk 2.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
