So I finished Kirby's Dream Land the other day, and I learned 2 things from it: 1) I really, really suck at platformers. I Game-overed 3 times in one of the easiest games ever. 2) I need more games like this. It was refreshing playing a game where I wasn't dying constantly. Unfortunately, due to my "hardcore phase", I lack any kind of easy platformer outside of Kirby, and I can't just look up "easy platformers" and find all the ones I need without extensive searching. So I figure I'll ask you guys. Here's the criteria:
MUST BE 2D. Even an easy 3D platformer is difficult for me.;_; I'm much more precise with 2D. 2.5D is acceptable
Easy is relative. For Hardcore gamers, think of games where it's rare for you to get hit. For Intermediate players, think of games where it's rare for you to die. For softer gamers such as myself, think of games where it's rare to see the game-over screen.
Games without lives, or even Game Over screens would be most preferred.
Games with some level of exploration would also be preferred, but not required.
NO KIRBY GAMES I have my quams about those games. Even Kirby's Dreamland, despite the lessons it taught me, was not a very pleasurable experience.
I hate to say it, but you've eliminated almost every decent game in existence. The only game I can think of which fits almost all of the criteria would be Kirby's Epic Yarn. It is literally impossible to die. And though you said that you don't like Kirby games, you might like it, because it has very little to do with the rest of the series. I'd suggest that instead of saying "I suck at games" and playing easy games, that you try and practice intermediate games, until you get better. Saying that you can't improve is a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Klonoa (Wii) Wario Land Shake It! Donkey Kong Country Returns Donkey Kong Country 1-3 Super Mario World (Or the NES entries of Super Mario) Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3 New Super Mario Bros
Just for you. "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." - Freddie Mercury
Donkey Kong Country games are hard Luckily, I spent every waking minute playing DKC3 for GBA and eventually finished it in two months. Anyways, you could always try Klonoa, Wario Land Shake it! or a 2d Rayman game. Or you could always try this: http://www.kongregate.com/games/zacisawsome/easy-platformer
IUf you want to try Godot's advice and go for some more intermediate games, I suggest New Super Mario Bros Wii or Super Mario World. NSMBW is a great game that is relatively easy to finish, not too easy, not too hard, the challenge comes when trying to collect each level's three big coins. (don't worry though, this is optional) . Super Mario WOrld is greta in much the same way, just with awesome 16 bit graphics. You could go for the VC version straight on the wii, but I would honestly suggest getting the GBA version, I don't know how much it goes for now-a-days though, so it might be cheaper to just get the VC version. But the GBA version has some nice bonuses plus the obvious bonus of being able to play the best 2D mario game on the go.

Ah hell naw! That game is one of the hardest platformers I've ever played excluded downloadable titles. (I'm lookin' at you, Super Meat Boy)
The Megaman Anniversary Collection (That's not the official name, but it's something like that) has an easy setting where you take less damage and dish out more which makes the game pretty easy. LittleBigPlanet is also great and pretty easy.

Otaku's got it. The Legendary Starfy Densetsu no Stafy series is terrific. If you enjoy that, you'll like the previous 4 games, which are similar in difficulty (some slightly harder/easier), though not everyone is comfortable playing Japanese games. My personal recommendation would be Stafy 3, my pick for best GBA game of them all.
Super Princess Peach is pretty good in its own right, but I absolutely hate that you have to rescue the toads in every level to challenge the final boss. It's easy and good fun, but not for everyone.
I don't think many would agree, but I found Yoshi Topsy Turvy to be enjoyable (and very easy, which many would agree if they played it).

Are you joking? Some of those temple and rocket levels in DKCR almost made me cry. ;_;
Yeah, I wasn't gonna mention anything because I didn't want to discourage other posters, but...I honestly found those games to be pretty hard. And that's as much as I'll say without embarrassing myself.
You did, however, remind me of Yoshi's Island. I completely forgot I had that game, and it might be perfect for me right now. I think I'll play that while I wait for Starfy to arrive.
As for the other suggestions, They're duely noted and I'll make them top priority when I have the money.
I've already gotten through most of Super Paper Mario. I just need to consult a guide to finish off the second to last boss. I'll get on that when I'm done with Yoshi's Island and Starfy.
If you have DSi or 3DS, Castle of Magic is a great easy game-mario style powerups, sonic ring style crystals, kirby style multi jumps-it's all great. If you check reviews, almost all of the low scores are from difficulty but all in all, it's a good game.

I'll have to keep that in mind. I was planning on saving up for a DSi some time soon, actually.
