As we all know, the PS Move is nowhere as successful as Kinect. Sony might have to reconsider whether or not they will incorporate a motion controller in the PS4.
What do you think? Should Sony keep the Move around and try to make it a success? Or should they just give up and stick with traditional controllers?
As poor of a device as it is, I don't see why they would. There's just no point in owning one unless they can make it a necessity next gen.
Would you say the same thing about Kinect? After all, it was extremely successful when it launched, and all the Xbox 360 bundles sold out this past Black Friday. Kinect is obviously more successful than the Move, and Microsoft is making a Windows PC version now. What do you think?

Kinect isn't a Technological dead End that the Move + Wiimote are. The Motion tracking + voice has a bigger future and really useful. "xbox play batman"

You can do the same thing with a PS Eye camera and a Move controller. It combines Kinect and Wii in one unit.

I don't think it's any better, really. Sure its selling to the casual market because of Black Friday, but like most people I know, those poor individuals will soon find out Kinect has little to offer. Are there really any games on Kinect that are... more worthwhile than say, WiiWare?
I don't think so.

The eyetoy uses completely different Api's and tech that Kinect uses. That's why sony is completing using Kinect in their newst mart TVs.
And the point that the move as a interface system has no future outside of games which is bad for sony.

Agreed. Microsoft took a huge gamble with Kinect, but it seems to have paid off tremendously. Now they're implementing the device in other products. Hopefully they will find success there.
How do you know smart tv's will use Kinect? Is it the actual Kinect device, or some different version?

Digitimes and Walt Mossberg have had some inside information that sony is thinking about using Kinect as the basis. As most know Smart tvs are going to be the Big push going forward. Its going to be about Cutting the cord and making TV better. Few have already tired with moderate success (Google TV/Roku/Boxee Box). Sony had tried using google tv but failed because oits the high price and Google TV wasn't ready for primetime (its great now).

Sony using Kinect? Why don't they just use the PlayStation Eye camera and make it more advanced? That would be like Microsoft using a Wii Remote for Windows.
No reason to use a competitor's product when you've got the resources to make your own version.

Sony doesn't want to take the time out and can't afford to put the R&D into advanced motion capturing and Voice recongtion technology.
Why do you think sony PC's uses windows and they're phones run android instead a customized version of XMB.

For the same reason that taking a paper plane and "making it more advanced" will give you a Boeing Jet. You're underestimating the R & D that goes into this stuff to a comic degree.

I'm not sure how this statement means PS Move is a failure. The Xbox 360 is nowhere near as successful at the Wii. Microsoft might as well pull out of the industry entirely.

While I appreciate the comparison, you're kind of missing the point. PS Move isn't selling well at all, while the Kinect is constantly selling out (at least in the Walmart where I work). Have you seen PS Move sell out anywhere?

Do you think Sony phones will ever run Windows Phone 7?
Also, the PlayStation Eye camera can use voice recognition and motion capture. Even the PS2 Eye-Toy camera did it. It's mostly software-based.

When you can provide me with Sony's profit-and-loss balance sheet that proves Move is a failure, you'll have a point.
