I don't know if I've just never noticed, but since the launch of the Switch 2, I've heard about Digital Foundry on the daily and for some reason it's starting to annoy me.
I've never been a fan of people harping on the power of the original Switch and now on the Switch 2.
I think it's crazy cool what the old and especially the new console is capable of running as long as the game developers put in time and effort.
But I feel like recently there's been an intense focus on the details and the numbers with every single game that releases, and it all seems to come from Digital Foundry, who news outlets are praising to no end.
I would love to know how other people are experiencing this.
I find it all super useless and oversaturated.
Every news outlet I follow is talking about these people and I can't seem to escape them.
Please share your thoughts!
I'm not particularly interested in hardware specs and technical stats but Digital Foundry clearly know their onions so I understand the appeal of their videos, and personally I haven't found them too ubiquitous to avoid (though I'm not massively involved in Switch 2 discussions at this point).
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
I felt like they were talked about a ton in 2024 because everyone wanted to harp on how Switch 1 was aging and ports were sub-par. That annoyed me a little at the time. Lately they haven't bothered me but I haven't been paying too much attention to them either.
I never really cared about the massive amount of Digital Foundry articles all that much. Journalists just write internet articles about what they want to cover and a lot of journalists want to cover Digital Foundry, it's as simple as that.

Well of Nintendo Life is going to just oversaturate Digital Foundry now because its now part of their network which is all owned by IGN and IGN wants those clicks.

@Tasuki No, they're not all owned by IGN. Digital Foundry is fully independent and IGN only have a minority stake in Hookshot Media, which owns Nintendo Life.
They're all working together largely because of a previous partnership with Eurogamer, which IGN acquired, including the aforementioned minority stake.
It's worth bearing this situation in mind, in case of conflicts of interest, but all three are editorially independent from each other, and that's a good thing.
Oversaturation sounds like the right word. DF do what they do /very/ well but the focus on any minor topic they can make a video about now is overkill and it's long approached content for the sake of content. I feel like them releasing a video every day just makes me not want to keep up. The digital burnoutt is real.
I feel like this is a little bit like saying there is an oversaturation of game reviews. New big game comes out, it gets reviewed by NL. Digital Foundry does what is basically their version of a review. Soo... maybe it is just an oversaturation of big game releases. 😝
I like John Linneman a lot. He is very smart and I find his voice very soothing. I'll listen to him yack away about confusing technical specks all day. 😆
