So, anyone else eagerly awaiting this fighter?

I've been playing a lot of DOAD in preperation! Also downloaded the DOA4 demo on the 360. I had forgotten how tough that game is (makes DOAD's toughest moments feel like a cake walk). I used to have a full copy of DOA4, but I sold it back when our first 360 broke. Whatever the case, DOA5 is looking epic (hope they don't butcher the cast as NB did with Soulcalibur V).

After playing SCV DOA is now my favourite fighter. I hope they bring it to Wii-U because I know that Tecmo Koei spoke publicly about their disappointment in the sales of DOAD on 3DS.

Did DOAD really do that badly? I knew it didn't sale as well as SSFIV, but I never imagined it would have too much trouble, with as much quality was put into the title (I personally think DOAD is the best fighter on 3DS at the moment).

A bit more on topic however, It wouldn't be a big deal for me if DOA5 doesn't hit Wii U as I have a 360 & PS3, but it would be cool to see how they'd use the Wii U controller.

Shouldn't this be in other gaming?

Eh I'm wary about it. The first team ninja game without Igataki was horrid but this a different genre so yeah.

This is the best news all day.

I take it you don't like DoA?

I loved DoA:D and have watched some story mode videos of other games in the series on youtube so that I know more about the characters. It would be awesome if DoA5 came to Wii U.

I'm assuming you're talking about Ninja Gaiden 3? DOAD was also made without Igataki, and it has gotten very good reception (even if sales were unfortunately low).

@Mickeymac, WHY U NO LIKE DOA?

Jokes like that are what I think hurts the series' perception from non-fans. They assume that the game is all about the "physics", not realizing that there's a great fighter under that, and so, many never try it out.

I'll admit, I was a stupid teenager when I first got DOA4, and bought it on it's reputation. I soon realized however, that the game had a great fighting system (and was brutally difficult). By the time DOAD was announced, what excited me was the concept of taking one of my favorite fighters with me on the go, not seeing boobs in 3D. Now that DOA5 is coming, I'm excited to see how they'll make use of the full power of the HD consoles (in contrast to DOA4, which came out at the beggining of the gen).

I urge those of you who haven't tried the series yet, based on it's reputation, to try it out. DOAD and DOA4 (if you can find it) can be bought fairly cheap, you may be surprised what you find (and you'll be in for a challenge if you get DOA4).

I've played DOA4 and it is an amazing game but TBH it is also about the boobs since that's what the creator tries to do. He even wanted the boobs to jiggle on the 3DS whe you shook it. He should have made the boobs less jiggly if he wanted the game to be known only for it's amazing combat. Also everyone knows DOA is a good fighting game so no need to worry about that. Boobs are more of a secondary thing on that game.

I agree. The assets of the female characters are nice but there's far more to the series than that but sadly people on my course at college say that its just a button masher and that people only like it for the tits.

I was hoping that as well, until I saw the new art direction. It looks icky.

Yeah, looks like they're doing away with it's old (and perfectly fine) art style, and replacing it with the very generic and worn out realistic style.

"The HD era, killing off the diverse art styles of long running and iconic franchises since 2006."

Still, even with the unfortunate turn in art direction, I'm still pretty excited for it. Heck, maybe the change is due to the Virtua Fighter guest characters (trying to find a style that both worlds can use, without coming off as too weird).

@RR529 That's a great point. I hadn't considered the VF guest fighters might be the cause of this new look. I hope it doesn't return in DOA 6.

I agree, the art style they already had was fine and I like it much more than this new realistic art style.

After the disappointment that was DOA4, DOA5 is looking to be a return to form for the series. I hope a Wii U version is in development.^_^

BTW, I agree with what you said about Soul Calibur V. That game was a disgrace to the Soul series.

yes the one on the right is the new art style. i too like a lot, much more than the looks of the other DoA games.

would be great if DoA 5 came on the wii U.

I prefer the new style to the old one. Using relaism makes the well wat women are portrayed in the game less creepy.
