So do you ever smash your control pad down onto the floor in a rage, due to some annoying or difficult bit in a video game?
I've never smashed my Wiimote around, because it's so fragile and delicate looking, like a ming vase or a ladies cheek. My study black GameCube pad though, made from thick, very hard plastic - I'm not above smashing it on the floor every now and again.
Such a child.
Bet I'm not alone though - when did you last smash, throw, or otherwise whack you control pad about in frustration, and what was the game situation?
Same here, but with my N64 controller. I wasn't very wise then (and more or less now ), so I used to do it after every time I died in any game. Man, we gamers really need a term for that other than "Control Pad Smashing". Any suggestions?

I can't say that I've done this. =) I've rubbed the skin right off my palm from rotating the control stick on the N64 (ow!), but not out of anger. I usually just smack my bed with my palm if I get frustrated. I think the covers and mattress will forgive me. =D

Last week. I was playing my sis in Mario party 2, and in 10 turns, she had 6 stars, 4 of which were from hidden blocks. I smashed it when she got her 7th star from toad. I was so pissed off. Never playing in Space Land again.

I'm with you too Trin. I've always been impressed with the durability of controllers. I don't anymore, since you only hold the Wiimote with one hand, but I have worked out my frustration on gamecube (and previous controllers). Usually I would hold it in one hand, and smack the circuits out of it with the other. Good times.

on one occasion the N64 controller smashed me. Playing Smash Bros. no less. The control pad rumbled for about five minutes. Time seemed to have slowed down, I was too transfixed to let go, my friends too fascinated to intervene. It eventually stopped & I fell to the floor. When it finally ended it felt as though ancient rites had been performed. Perhaps I had awakened the Goddess Nayru.

NSMBWii has made me throw my pad into a pile of cushions and blankets, so as not to hurt it, but other than that I'm pleased to say I've never, ever broken a controller in all my years of gaming. Probably because I used to be better at games :
Back in the SNES days i used to play Super Mario Kart Battle Mode and Super Street Fighter 2 (New Challengers Ed.) for hundreds of hours with my brother. We were young and took it a little bit to serious now and then - in total 4 pads got smashed against the wall + broken completely. It was intense...
After a frustrating past gaming session I had the idea that a breakable controller may be marketable, one that if you threw it on the ground (or target of your choice) the casing would break apart at predetermined points and reassemble easily or be Nerf like and take a beating while still retaining functionality.... anyone care to invest a few million in my idea?
