Topic: Are Wario and Waluigi Brothers or Partners?

I've been having a nagging question lately that must be one of those great Nintendo mysteries. Are Wario and Waluigi brothers or partners?

There's been plenty of games that stated one thing and said another. Smash Bros. games claim neutrality and say it's uncofirmed, while Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games said they are partners. I've taken to Super Mario Wiki (which is surprisngly professional for a Wiki site) and it showed just how mixed some of the explanations are for this. Personally, I think Waluigi shares too many traits with Wario to just be his partner, so I think there's something deeper. Can someone clear this up for me?

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

This question reminds me of that wonderful article in which an English teacher in Japan tried to get his young students to explain the relationships amongst the Mario characters. It's a great read: (4colorrebellion.com)

Here are his hilarious conclusions based on the confused statements of those little kids:

1. Mini Koopa is Mario’s brother, stepbrother or cousin.
2. The height of someone is directly proportional to how old they are.
3. Mario’s father (or uncle) often kidnaps his own daughter (or niece).
4. It is up to Mario to constantly defeat his father (or uncle) to win the love of his sister.
5. Mario is possibly romantically involved with his sister.
6. Mario has an evil brother.
7. No one knows who Waluigi is, but he hangs out with the family at most parties.

I'm pretty sure Wario is on top......thats not the answer you were looking for but...
That what Reggie told me.

I blame Camalot, they made Waluigi

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I hope Nintendo doesn't call them "partners" in that sense ever.

Everybadaday knows that Walouis is not meant to be seen as Wario's brother, but, seen as Louis's counterpart, in the same way that Wario is Mario's counterpart.

Due to their similarities, I think they must be related so if they're not brothers, then maybe cousins.

Magi

Strangely, my boss's boss's boss refers to his opposite-sex wife/girlfriend/love unit/whatever as a "partner". I've always thought that was strange.

And completely irrelevent, but there it is.

They're partners in crime. But only when there're sports involved, Waluigi completely hates trasure hunting and video game making.

In my opinion, they're brothers. And—much like Luigi—Waluigi is doomed to forever live in his stout brother's shadow (even though he's taller). Give Waluigi a platforming game already, Nintendo!

Are they not allowed to be both? Brothers that work together? Unless it's stated somewhere that they are, in fact, not brothers, then I don't see the confusion.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
