Topic: Any chance of Star Fox Adventures being released on the Switch?

Now that Super Mario Sunshine is released on the Switch, is there a chance we will get Star Fox Adventures? I know it’s developed Rare but I would think it’s the same situation as the DKC games.

I don't think there's any legal reason why it couldn't be released on Switch.
But because of its lack of popularity on GC, the only ways I can see it ported is either on a Star Fox compilation or GC games on Nintendo Switch Online.

@Rexenoboy And even then I don't seem GC being added anytime soon. It'll be more likely on Nintendo's part to port a couple of the popular ones and end it there.

A Star Fox compilation would be cool tho

@Rexenoboy
I definitely would like to see Gamecube titles on NSO.

I hope we do get some of the less popular GC titles including Star Fox Adventures, Wario World and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.

Star Fox Adventures will be on Switch if it gets GCN NSO support and not any time at all before that.

I also doubt Switch will get GCN NSO support.

I'd quite like to see a Donkey Kong collection. DK64, Jungle Beat and DKC Returns all in HD would be a decent collection to have and would probably make for an easier translation from the original consoles than the Mario All Stars one.

Mostly I'd like DKC Returns with Jungle Beat as a bonus. I probably wouldn't even touch DK64 but I know it has it fans.

I don't care what anyone thinks Star fox adventures was great! Yeah it was basically a zelda clone with star fox characters but maybe that's why i liked it. I'm a sucker for those type of games!

I hope so. Then they might also add Krystal to smash to celebrate. #Krystal4Smash

Reading the Star Fox Command article really shocked me with one statement:

Star Fox Adventures & Star Fox Assault were not populair?

  • how?
  • why?
  • what did I miss

Not until Gamecube hits NSO which will be most likely on the next system. I can see us getting n64 and maybe gba on Switch, but anything else I don't think Nintendo is going to bother until the successor. I mean its a nice pitch for NSO for the new system, if they just push what is already on switch and then add in GCN.

I strongly doubt Nintendo will just hand over GameCube games to NSO subscribers. They will want to capitalise on those as much as possible.

I can see Nintendo releasing barebones ports/emulations as budget retail releases (or full priced compilation releases) and rendered in HD like Sunshine was.

Will it happen? Probably not. But a guy can dream.

If we see more GameCube emulated titles (which seems almost certain, it would've likely been simpler to port Sunshine + Galaxy than emulate, with better results), then Star Fox seems rather likely. Looking at the GCN library, here's what I'd say from most likely to least for emulated ports:

1. Kirby Collection (Kirby 64 + Kirby Air Ride + Kirby's Return to Dreamland) - HAL did a great Kirby anniversary collection before, so this one seems incredibly likely. Throw in a few of the other titles as well as possible additions. Given Dream Collection had everything up to Crystal Shards, this one might have the GBA games, Return to Dreamland and even maybe Air Ride given it's fan love. If it's happening, it'll be 2022, the 30th anniversary, 10 years after Dream Collection. (It's also possible we'll see 2 releases, a combo Port / Emulation (Emulation only for the exclusives new levels) of Dream Collection + Dream Collection 2 focusing on newer titles (a mix from GBA + GameCube + Wii + DS)
2. Prime Trilogy - Normal port seems more likely, but we can't count out an emulated version of it either
3. Star Fox 64 + Adventures + Assault - This one seems an easy win, and not likely to eat into other sales. I'd rank it likely in 2023 as one of the tail end titles for the system while they're gearing up for the successor (Also the 30th anniversary).
4. Pikmin 1 + 2 - Possible? I can't say I'd be too surprised by this.
5. Fire Emblem Path of Radiance + Radiant Dawn - Also somewhat likely, really depends on what IS' plans are for remaking them. If that's at least a generation away, a rerelease bundle now is quite possible.
6. 1080 Avalanche + Wave Race+Blue Storm possibly with their N64 counterparts - If Nintendo wants to bring out sports games to help satisfy that niche, this would be a great 4 game compilation.
7. F-Zero X + GX - Seems oddly likely (which is weird to say). It'd satisfy F-Zero fans (somewhat), and could make for a decent $40 release, especially if the course creator from the N64DD is implemented.
8. Baten Kaitos + Origins (Partnered with Bandai Namco) - There's actually a decentish chance for this. It's the only way I see them getting rereleased (no remake is coming), but it does require intercompany cooperation.
9. Pokemon Colosseum + XD - I don't see these happening until they release a Pokemon console game with animations that are better than this. They wouldn't want them showing up Sword + Shield. Expect Home connectivity if it happens.
10. Luigi's Mansion - Got a remake very recently on 3DS, but slightly possible
11. Warioworld + Shake It! - Possible...? I guess? I'd love it but...
12. Wind Waker + Twilight Princess - Bringing over HD Ports is more likely, but can't count these out.
13. Chibi Robo, Custom Robo, GiFTPiA - Unlikely, plus the developers of these games are no longer around. Which may make it easier or harder, who knows?
14. Geist + Eternal Darkness - Well... um... it's highly unlikely this will happen (sad as it makes me). I can't see either of these getting sold alone unless it's like, $10 on the shop, but that's unlikely. I could see them doing it as a bundle though, given they're both among Nintendo's only M rated titles. Also, the companies behind these games are dead so see above.
tie - 15. Mario Kart 64 + Double Dash + Wii, Smash 64 + Melee + Brawl - Highly unlikely, but can't count either of these out entirely. Unlike most multiplayer games, both MK and Smash have enough pull that people would quite possibly buy these on top of the existing entries. That said, Brawl may not be included since Konami + Sega would have to buy in on that, making it slightly less likely.
16. Mega Microgames + Smooth Moves - Highly unlikely. Especially Smooth Moves, I'm not sure that'd be possible minus a sensor bar.
17. Paper Mario + TTYD + Super Paper Mario - If it happens, they will likely require them to replace every unique character in the games with standardized models. So... it's not going to happen.
18. Mario Party 1-7, Tennis + Power Tennis, Golf + Toadstool Tour - Almost certainly not since they'd take away sales from modern releases. Only Superstar Baseball and Strikers are possible if those series aren't planned to return, but still highly unlikely.

@link3710 I've always wanted a Mario Party collection. Every board, minigame, and character in shiny HD. It'll never happen, especially since Super Mario Party is fairly new, but just imagine playing the second game in new graphics. Those costumes and designs on the boards? chef's kiss

If they remade the old Mario Parties in HD, added online for the BOARDS, instant purchase for me. I'd love that so much.

I'd probably love it more than the actual old Mario Parties themselves (also this would be their chance to make Mario Party 1 not a hazard to your health, so that'd be nice).
