'Ey there, anibros!
Any good slice-of-life type animes you can recommend? I love things like Acchi Kochi and Ouran, I'm considering watching Sakura Trick, but there was that one slice-of-life anime that was featured on Kotaku that I'd like to watch. I just don't know the name. :/
Sure enough, I just finished up Chirality (manga)! Quality wise I'd say it falls right in line with the Legend of Lemnear (which is by the same mangaka). It's certainly not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not stand out either. It's the very definition of an average sci-fi series, that I'd only recommend to those who like the genre.
Also, I have to recant my previous statement. The fanservice isn't toned down in this compared to his other works. While it seems so at first, by the end it's actually much more prevalent in this series. Heck, the the two female leads are in a Yuri relationship, and they take every opportunity they can to be as unsubtle about it as possible O_O (so yeah, if you don't like fanservice, steer clear).

Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge - Missed it (figures -_-).
Naruto Shippuden - This episode was pretty average I guess.
One Piece - Pretty good episode. Not as good as last week's, but good.
Blue Exorcist - This was a pretty funny episode.
Black Lagoon - This episode was all over the place! First an epic gun battle, then some dark serious background info, and then a nice touching moment (that is, until Revy stepped back in. Letting things go nicely isn't her way).

I just finished the 7th episode of Mekaku City Actors. The ending almost made me cry.
Damn you, Akiyuki Shinbo. Now I have to respect you.

Saw episode 46 of CCS. I would have honestly thought that was the end of the anime f I hadn't seen this before. That was great. Still as wonderful as I remember. Only tiny spoilers ahead but still.
[spoilers] Sakura's punishment for losing the final fight is pretty damn depressing when you think about it. If she loses the world would be a place without feelings for your loved ones. So no friendship, love, or caring. Can't imagine how cold that must be. It's a pretty dark alternative to simply dying if you lose. I really love how thought out this series was. [/spoilers]
I probably won't rush through it like I did with InuYasha & Rurouni Kenshin though, since E3 is coming up and I'm getting into more of a gaming mood.
As for the first chapter, wow. Yusuke is presented much differently here than in the anime. His delinquent image is much more prominent here, with his surprisingly ugly facial expressions & such.

I just watched 7 episodes of CCS... It's getting so good. I think this is the second most amount of episodes I've seen in one day. Second only to the time I finished Kaiba in two days. Boy that was so weird I just had to keep watching.
Edit: oh wait, Kaiba is 12 episodes so CCS is the most episodes I've seen in one day. Huh.
I think I'll watch Yu Yu Hakusho when I'm done with this to keep the nostalgia theme going.
^Just got done blowing through Yu Yu Hakusho. Loved every minute of it again for the 3rd time!
My next stop was a quickie but I really enjoyed it. I'm 40 minutes away from finishing Eden of the East. Didn't have time to finish that second movie yet but I'm so glad the movies are continuing the story as opposed to retelling it! After this I might just watch the first 2 seasons of Kenshin or quickly blow through Generator Gawl. Fairy Tail is also high on my list as I've never seen it!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I just watched the first Persona 3 movie. So, might a review of sorts on it.
It's a pretty faithful adaptation of the game, yet I feel it stands as a good movie on its own. While it does cut out a lot of filler and character interactions, it's to-the-point, easy to follow, and fun to watch. Because of this, however, it suffers from a few pacing issues here and there.
All the characters are actually really faithful to their in-game counterparts, and they even react as you'd expect to slightly different scenarios. The only real downside here is that we don't get much interaction between them, though we get just enough to understand who they are. At the same time, even though everyone except Aigis appears in the opening sequence, the cast is not whole for the entirety of this movie, which lines up with the game's timeline and makes complete sense. Overall, the characters, albeit somewhat stripped down, are still who you'd expect them to be. That said....
I hate the Male MC. The main lead, Makoto Yuki (still think that sounds like a girl's name), not only suffers from "lack-of-personality-itis" (which was another problem of P4 anime), he's disinterested in literally everything around him, to a really irritating degree I'd say, and overall, you (the viewer) don't feel as invested because the main lead isn't invested. In most situations, he simply answers with "I don't care" and leaves the scene. He shows no emotion (seriously, none at all) until the very end of the film, yet by then, it comes as too little too late. That said, I do like how the characters react to his lack of interest and are very vocal about it. Bonus points for that, I guess.
Overall: 7/10
It's good and doesn't overstay it's welcome, but there are just a few too many issues that hold the experience back. While I was able to follow, because I played the game, I'm not guaranteeing a novice to the series will instantly understand everything. That aside, the Male MC is a total jerk and is indifferent to the whole thing. Some may excuse this due to his backstory, but I personally do not believe he's that great of a character. (Pretty sure he's emo solely based off his appearance/in-game art: a decision I blame the directors for. It's stuff like this that makes me wish FeMC would get some recognition.)
Who is this for? Fans of the series are the primary audience, though it stands as a good flick on its own. I suggest you watch this if there's not much else on your anime queue. Personally however, I wouldn't recommend this to any anime novice, as to them, this will either be awfully confusing or extremely boring.
Rewatchable? Only if you are bored. It's a good 90 minute time killer, but it's no anime classic you'll want to rewatch over and over again.
