That twist the end of Episode 3 did nothing for you?

The end of episode 3 isn't really a twist, it's just more of when the show stops pulling its punches. It just gets crazier from there, like with the reveal about Soul Gems, the true meaning of "magical girl", Kyubey's purpose, and all of Homura.

I call it a twist because it's the first time the show subverts the audiences expectations and starts tearing down genre tropes/conventions. But yeah, not really a plot twist in the sense of the word.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

1. Eureka 7 AO - I loved Eureka 7 (which was shown on the revived Toonami), so I'm just itching to see this. I'm not sure how well the original did though, as I think it's time slot got pushed back once or twice during it's run, which I don't think was a good sign.

What I've read suggested that Eureka 7 AO would actually make me really angry if I ever saw it...

EDIT: To those who haven't heard of Bokurano: the anime butchered the ending and cut a couple of fantastic fights, so if you think the plot sounds interesting, read the manga instead.

I was wondering if there were any differences. Since Discotek is releasing that one soon, I'll probably watch the anime first regardless, then read through the parts of the manga that was cut later. I just vastly prefer to see stuff animated, especially if there's action involved...

Whether you watch the anime first or not, you should read the entire manga. It's beyond Fullmetal Alchemist levels of difference. It starts to significantly diverge at around chapter 43/63, but there's loads of changes beforehand.
Another thing too: there's not much action. It's more of a nihilistic psychological thriller about responsibility, the acceptance of death, and the cost of saving lives. The problem lies in that the anime's director is a guy who can't stand to see children die, needs a villain for the heroes to defeat, and thinks a happy ending is mandatory. A lot of characters were cut completely. Several amazing side characters aren't even given a backstory in the anime, despite some being related to a couple of the main characters in the manga. Some characters are very sympathetic in the manga, but puppy-kicking evil in the anime. I could gush forever, but that's just because it's my first - and still my favorite - manga ever.

That said, Uninstall is an amazing OP. They really outdid themselves there.

I just realized a trend of 90's anime making a comeback. Digimon Adventure 01 is getting a sequel hopeulfully this summer, Dragon Ball is getting a sequel in July after 18 years, Sailor Moon's anniversary series has been going strong, and I want to say there's even one more anime I'm forgetting(?). Pretty cool to see companies cashing in on the original series' fans nostalgia now that they're mostly in the adult age range, if just so I can get to see shows I loved again with new episodes.

If there's one certain 90's anime that gets a new anime to follow its manga more closely like Sailor Moon I might explode.

  • Dragon Ball Super
  • Digimon 01 sequel
  • Sailor Moon Crystal
  • Evangelion remake movies
  • Ghost in the Shell Arise
  • Ai Tenchi Muyo!
  • Rurouni Kenshin live action films (and the mangaka recently came out with a two chapter special focusing more on Shishio's background).

Personally, I'm hoping we get some sort of new InuYasha content next year, as it'll be it's 20th anniversary (the manga started in 1996).

Read the new chapter of Bleach!

Aizen regains consciousness, and has a little chat with Captain Koryaku (the "hippie" looking one), where he laments the fact that Ichigo reached the Soul Palace before himself. Meanwhile, the Shinigami and turncoat Quincies are working together to create a gate to the Soul Palace.

Ichigo & Co. regroup at a lower level of the Soul Palace after being knocked off the top. They're trying to discuss a way back up to the top as Orihime is healing them, and it seems Yoruichi has a plan. After she calls out, a gate to Hueco Mundo opens, and out steps Grimmjow!

I'm on episode 6 of Grisaia no Kajitsu (on Sakaki’s route now). Grisaia no Kajitsu is based on a VN (to be more accurate on this, is pretty much a eroge, saw the H-CGs). The anime adaptation is done by 8bit. Grisaia no Kajitsu is part of a trilogy, Kajitsu being the first one of the trilogy, follow by Grisaia no Meikyuu (2nd) and Grisaia no Rakuen (3rd) being the last one. I really can’t comment too much on the anime adaptation of Kajitsu, since I haven’t played the VN of Kajitsu, or the other 2 (to be honest). Though some people who had played Kajitsu with the English fan patch (patch is no longer available) have said that the anime felt rushed (I found it believable) and that certain important events were missing.

Sekai Project has announced that they are bringing the trilogy officially to the West in English (thanks to Kickstarter), and their bringing the all-age version, is also coming to Steam (hope it sells it well enough to let them bring the 18+ version of the trilogy in the future).

The Grisaia no Kajitsu anime was really rushed. They butchered through all of the routes, mostly Sachis', and ruined Yumiko's story with an original ending. It was awful.

Btw, the Angelic Howl arc at the end is really messed up. You can probably guess what's going to happen as the story goes on. I couldn't sleep well for days.

Toonami Saturday night!

DBZ Kai - Missed due to that darned boxing thing.

Kill la Kill - Missed due to same above reason.

Sword Art Online II - Kirito is a bit off after his encounter with Death Gun, but he's dragged back to himself as he's thrusted into his next match. Kirito wins his first encounter with Sinon, but she promises not to lose in the next round.

InuYasha: The Final Act - Plenty of flashbacks regarding the history of Naraku. Kagome's school year officially comes to an end as her family wishes her good luck in the coming battle. Naraku uses the jewel to transform into a giant spider, while the group (and Sesshomaru) deliberately fall into his trap by going inside of his body (They know this will give Naraku full control of the battlefield, i.e. himself, but it's the only way to rescue Rin, who is inside him). Naraku seperates InuYasha/Kagome from Miroku/Sango by morphing the battlefield, and using the dark power of the jewel makes InuYasha succumb to his demon side in order to get him to attack Kagome (she can't calm him down because her powers are still sealed). Naturally, she refuses to use a miasma coated arrow offered by Naraku to kill InuYasha to save herself, and he lunges. Tune in next week to see what happens next.

Naruto Shippuden - The Leaf is under one heck of an invasion by our evil earthbenders (now including zombies!), while Naruto is tasked with stopping Sora.

One Piece - Franky catches up to Luffy, who protects him so he can get passed Lucchi. Zoro is one of the few actual legitimately cool characters in this show, and it's a shame to see him wasted against giraffe guy (or I guess I should say, "giraffe boy"). Seriously, I don't know if that guy's fighting abilities are funny or just stupid (probably a bit of both).

Also, they reviewed Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yeti - 7.5/10.

Just last night I was thinking about Patlabor and its mecha designer, Yutaka Izubuchi, and how I enjoyed his designs in the series, particularly the second movie (though admittedly one of the best designs came from Shōji Kawamori, who is up there, if not surpassing Kunio Okawara as my favorite mechanical designer).

And today I see an article about the guy on Crunchyroll

That was an article about Ikuto Yamashita...

...this is now a post about my top 5 mechanical designers. Hajime Katoki is the 5th one.

First PV for God Eater is out.

Definitely going to be checking it out. Ufotable's work with the Nasuverse has been outstanding and Takayuki Hirao directed the best Garden of Sinners film. MC is voiced by Ryuichi Kijima, who has a long resume as Male Student A, Customer B, etc...

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I finished up Dirty Pair Flash (anime)! It's not one of the best anime's I've seen, but it was a decent time waster. It's tough to really pin it down overall, because the focus of the show changes often:

  • "episodes 1-6": A single story arc featuring corporate espionage and an assassin with a mysterious past. Has the most action in the series, and the only notable character development. Only has a small touch of fanservice (the somewhat revealing outfits which are pretty tame by anime standards).
  • "episodes 7-11": A story arc where they have to find the culprit behind a cyber attack on a theme park themed after 20th century Tokyo. Only the first & last episodes deal with the core story though, as the middle three are unrelated shenanigans they get caught up in while in the park. Fanservice is dialed up.
  • "episodes 12-16": There is no overall story arc at all, as each episode is completely independent, some being more action focused (especially the finale), while others are more comedy focused. Once again, the fanservice is dialed up further.

Just as a quick reminder, the series revolves around the adventures of Kei & Yuri, a pair of mismatched police officers in a future setting, who are given the nickname "Dirty Pair", because although they get the job done, it usually comes with large amounts collateral damage.

Ufhcnxhsjcos. That's a huge delay and I was really expecting a new series. :/ Can't say I really care though. I just want it to air already and will forget it exists until it does.

The preview is awesome though and got me pretty excited. At least the animation will be higher since it's a six part movie thing instead of 50 episodes!
