Well, I have this game since it released in 2011 and I have played 170 hours and 50 minutes so not really ashamed. The game I have played the most would probably be Monster Hunter Tri on Wii at around 300 hours, mostly online and within one year.
I also did the maths and I got x1.7 times more coins than you in the same amount of time, no idea why.
EDIT: Please tell me how many hours of your life you have spent playing Splatoon 2 (a 2017 game). 1,000??

Every day, I put my pants on one leg at a time... and then I play Splatoon 2 for an hour and a half.
The current count is 1,110 hours. Kinda funny. I thought Splatoon 2 looked too much like a kids game to want it. Then a friend nagged me. I tried it, and liked it. I think, like 100 hours in, I remember seeing another Switch user with 1,000 hours, and thought, holy schmidt! 1,000 hours!?!?? I thought that was lunacy If I wasn't burned out on getting properly radical on the skis & bikes, the number would be lower. Ehh, but here we are. I'll take it over doing less healthy vices.
@Woomy_NNYes Ha ha nope. I got the Wii U entry but I haven't played it much yet. I had played the Wii U demo, they used to offer some free days. I don't have the Switch game but I will play the Wii U version a bit more and see if I like it or not, but I won't like it as much as you.
@BlueOcean I wonder why you're MK7 play time hauls in so much more coins than me? Maybe 5-10 of my hours is time trials. I've got 3 Star ratings on everything - because of course, I'm not a cave man Does playing battles rack up coins faster? I never play battles.
What's your theory? Maybe I just need 2 git guud 🤔
@BlueOcean When i started mk7, it took me a while to figure out coins add speed, and were also needed for three star trophies for each cup. I bet that's it.
@Woomy_NNYes They got that feature back from the original game. Playing Grand Prix, my favourite mode, gives you the most coins but if I were you I wouldn't bother getting 20,000 coins. By the time you unlock the car you won't care. I already have 18,503 coins, didn't know I needed 20,000 and I haven't played since I found out. For me it would be relatively easy* to get 20,000 but I will play only if I feel like playing. I got Mario Kart 8 DX for Switch Lite and I have played less than 5 hours because I had played the Wii U version so much and it's not my favourite Mario Kart game anyway.
