There's a tiny chance I could see it happening, if Monolith Soft itself was involved with the project. Since they can...actually release ambitious games within a somewhat normal period of time.
Also, they would be the most fitting developer to make it, for obvious reasons.
@kkslider5552000 Would make sense. Takahashi is the only guy that knows Xenogears like the back of his hand. He understands every facet of his baby, which is why we still get so much Xenogears references and even plot points in Xenoblade today. There's a bevy of references in his present work, and I think Takahashi would want to finally see Xenogears stand up and shake the heavens as he intended.
Now that I think about it, if someone were to do a remake of Xenogears, Monolith Soft is by far the best candidate. They're literally the modern version of Squaresoft at this point, plus Takahashi would be able to carry out his vision as intended.

I didn't actually finish the game myself. Stopped somewhere midway through the first disc. When someone releases the next softmod for the Vita (so I can get unofficial PS1 games running on it), I'll give it another playthrough, along with Legend of Dragoon which I also didn't finish.
Unless I missed a lot about the game though, it's not really on the same kind of scale as FF7. That's a bigger game for sure.
I'm also gonna predict that we DO see FF7 at this E3. A lot of people have been doubting it but then I think back to how many trailers they gave us for FFXV over the years before it actually released. Squarenix obviously don't care about waiting til the release year. My prediction is the first game will come out christmas 2019 but that we'll see a trailer this E3.
@Dezzy Xenogears' strength lies in the extremely complicated story it presents. Normally I'm a gameplay-first guy so you'd think that Final Fantasy VII's better combat with Materia and such would make that my preferred game to play (I prefer FFVII's ATB over Xenogears' faux-ATB), but Xenogears' story was incredibly superb for what it was back on the PS1. There's just so much to unpack here, with richly detailed lore, amazing casts of villains and protagonists, lots of concurrent storylines moving at the same time before converging together, the works. It's a bit hard to follow, but when everything clicks, it's amazing. I never got that exact same feeling with FFVII despite really loving that game and the story.
In terms of gameplay, Disc 2 had to be rushed out because the developers ran out of time after making Disc 1, so they had a choice between either just ending the game at Disc 1 or making Disc 2 the way it was with just cutscenes and boss fights until the very end where you can finally get to the world map. It's not as content-packed as FFVII, that's for sure.
But yeah, it's a flawed masterpiece that really needs some extra meat in it to really shine in its fullest potential. Oh well...

One thing that I forgot to mention that I'd be really hopeful is a Xenosaga remaster. I never got to play them, so having an updated release for those games would be great.
With all the recent trademarks to renew Xenosaga stuff and KOS-MOS and T-elos reappearing in Xenoblade 2, I'd like to think there's more interest in Xenosaga (and Xenogears). Monolith has said that KOS-MOS being in the game was more "for fun", but damn do I want there to be a second release for Xenosaga.

@Octane I mean, if Dreams doesn't get a date, that game is in Crackdown 3 territory. I'm just saying that the games Sony announced way too early aren't even in the running for a release date. I really doubt they'll get even a year.
@Haru17 Surprisingly, with how long Dreams has been in development, it's not one of the 4 games Sony are focusing E3 on. That does make me wonder how smoothly development on the game has been going. It's kind of make or break for Media Molecule.

Well, Sony wouldn't give Dreams the spotlight even if it was their only other game releasing this year. I don't disagree with that in every instance, but it's a fact that their less impressive-looking / core genre-inhabiting games get shunned from prominent roles in press conferences. Gravity Rush 2 wasn't even enough to get into their E3 show a couple years back.
Sorry if this question has been asked in this thread already, but what do you guys think the likelihood of Animal Crossing being announced at E3 is? I don't believe it was included in any of those leaks, but it seems like the perfect time to announce a new AC.

I doubt Nintendo will announce many new first party games. They've already shown off so many IOUs that aren't coming anytime soon, logically their development resources will focus on paying those off first. It's basically the place Sony has been in for almost this entire generation.
I feel like Retro's game will be announced because it has to be announced 4 years after their last game released. Other than that, they might just fill in the gaps with trailers for Fire Emblem Switch, Metroid Prime 4, Smash Bros. ???, Bayonetta 3, and Pokemon 8th gen (if it's this year). None of those games have any footage from the game, or even titles save for Bayonetta 3 XD.
Something like Animal Crossing would probably make sense in a Nintendo Direct, maybe sometime around the launch of their online subscription.
