@NEStalgia Well, not every other E3: BotW was the first time ever that Nintendo won the show with just one game.
And Microsoft is not just going to be present: they're also going to be past and future, thanks to their brilliant backward compatibility and to the upcoming stuff that they're going to show...
P.S.
My initial idea was to apply the "dog theme" to more of my comment, so I was contemplating starting the comment with "No dawg" but ultimately, I thought better of it...
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@redd214 That's very little stuff from Nintendo. In fact: too little. They will show more. EDIT:
And you forgot to add an ID@Xbox segment to Microsoft's list. There's already 5 titles that we more or less know of, which will be shown under that label.
@redd214 Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm right (yet), but Nintendo really needs to capitalize on the positive momentum that they currently have with the Switch, so showing only a handful of games is definitely not going to achieve that, and much like Microsoft, they aren't going to make the same mistake twice.

@YummyHappyPills They had a job listing, and it talked about a "new IP", it also mentioned Days Gone and the rest of the games they worked on. Their next game is probably in pre-production, I don't think they will reveal it at E3 though, too soon.
@ThanosReXXX
Microsoft: We will win E3 by telling people they can play XBox and XBox 360 games.
Sony: We will win E3 by telling people they can re-buy ports of PS3 games at full price.
Nintendo: Ice Climbers (drops mic)
Yo dawg, I heard you like dawgs with your dawgs, so I'm giving you a dawg.
@redd214 Not confirmed, but they said there isn't anything planned at the moment, so I doubt they would have something ready by E3, and Cory was going to take a 2-3 month break too.
The way the game is structured, and the way Cory talked about it, I think it's pretty much guaranteed they're going straight into a sequel.
@YummyHappyPills No one NEEDS to win, it's just the crazy fanboys and media driving that initiative, sadly enough. But there is of course the official award stuff going on every year, such as game of show and so on, so there's that...

@YummyHappyPills E3 was a trade show in the 90's. It's something a little different now though, acting as a marketing platform to both the core audience via the rabid fans like us that watch, and to the wider audience via the mainstream press that pays attention to the game industry that one week a year. It's more a giant organized commercial for a week than an old school trade show for retail products to release for the holidays. There's investor/partner/supplier stuff behind the scenes still, but these days there's so many other opportunities for that that E3 isn't really the main venue for that.
"Winning" E3 is more of a meme than a reality, but certainly whoever makes the best impression at E3 gains a bit of an advantage. Particularly when the core customer base is fixated on identifying which of the 3 is the most future-stable platform.
I'm not sure a broken clock metaphor can explain someone describing the entire plot of FFXV before it's been released. That's not something you get with guesswork (at least not twice a day)
@Dezzy ". That's not something you get with guesswork " It's a Squeenix RPG. How could you tell the difference between guessing the plot and writing random disjointed thoughts on a piece of paper? It would look similar either way.
@Dezzy Well, I am. The broken clock metaphor should not be interpreted as "well, at least they got part of it right" but as getting something completely right, either by accident or by kicking in open doors.
It's like shooting with a machine gun: even a lousy shot will at the very least hit something eventually...
And on forums like that, there is of course also the odd chance that someone ACTUALLY in the know drops by, but the number of times that this happens are few and far in between, and most of the time, people like that don't stay around very long, or drop off the Earth completely, for fear of being discovered if they did run their mouths when they weren't supposed to.
