Topic: Notifications Stopped Working

The personal notifications you get when someone replies to one of my comments or likes a comment of mine stopped working a long time ago for me.

I have notifications turned on in my settings and yet, when anyone interacts with my comments, I get no notifications anymore. I’ve tried turning them off and then on again. Didn’t work.

I sent an email query about it and have received no reply.

Is this an issue anyone else is experiencing or is this unique to me?

Still working just fine for me. I'll simply tag @antdickens into this thread: he'll probably know what to do or how to fix it.

I keep getting a message saying my email provider is bouncing their notifications, and I'm certainly not getting them anymore.

I have no idea how to fix it, and I'm not gonna create a new email account just for this... So I suppose it would be cool to hear ideas.

@RunninBlue Hey! I found your email and saw that I replied (17 Nov 2020, 09:53) but got no further reply from yourself... which may suggest your account is blocking our emails somehow.

I'm assuming you see the notifications when logged in (under your account), but you aren't getting the emails, is that right?

Can you check the spam folder or "anywhere" for emails from "[email protected]" and let me know?

Thanks!

@antdickens Hi Andy, thanks for checking it out.

A search of my email folders only reveals 2 emails from [email protected], one from 2018 and one from 2019. None from 17/11/2020.

About the notifications, I not only don’t get an email, I also don’t get the indicator on the website when I’m logged in (the red circle with the number).

Since I have emailed NintendoLife about it, the notifications have appeared twice for me. Once when I mentioned it in a comments section and a user replied to it and once for replies to this thread. But, there have also been replies to other comments of mine in this period which I didn’t get notifications for still.

Basically, in the last 6-12 months I’ve only received 2-3 notifications and they’ve all been in the last few weeks since I started mentioning the lack of notifications.

It’s a weird situation.

@RunninBlue You'll only get certain things in the notification red circle, mentions mainly. Topic replies won't appear there.

However, looking at the logs the emails are being sent to you (for all the recent notifications) and are being delivered to your provider. If you aren't seeing them that's down to your email provider probably filtering them out into spam.

Anyway, from what I can see here it's all working as expected I'm afriad.

@antdickens I am not getting notifications when someone directly replies to me in the comment section of an article by tagging my username (using the ‘reply’ button). This always used to give me a notification, now it doesn’t.

In order to know if someone replied to me, I have to open the comment section and scroll all the way through manually to see if someone replied to me. It is very annoying.

I’ve been using NintendoLife for years and the sudden change to the notifications is weird and unusual.

Ok, thanks for trying, anyway.
