Dear community

First i want to thank you for Super Mario run
That was my first game i played when i was little
You make better graphic faster run and more interesting
But why is not for free?
This game is not popular like Pokemon Go
in Pokemon go u give us way for free play(pokestop,lvl ip and more)
But in SMR you dont do that
In mobile fun games SMR come at last...you have big competition and you choice to sell Screens
No no no that was mistake
please make some ways for free play...some options must exist

-to sell 10mil for 10 dolars
-give free full download and get 50mil of player and sell some items for few dolars?

Get 100mil dolars and destroy game or get 50mil of players who want to buy items for 4,5 dolars cuz competition is bigger and all wants to be no.1

@madhatter All these people are just being mean to you because they don't have enough going on in their lives so they enjoy coming on to Nintendo forums and giving people a hard time.

No one at this forum has the ability to set pricing options for SMR, but I will say that the leadership of Nintendo has gone on record saying that they are not changing their pricing model even though sales fell below expectations. It works the same way as Disney handles their blu-ray releases, they rarely discount or lower prices so it won't devalue the films.

Pretty much this. Nintendo doesn't wish to devalue their brand, least of all a beloved franchise like Mario. Whether we disagree with the pricing model doesn't make much of a difference at this point. A discount may be possible in the future, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Also, to be fair, Nintendo has very little to do with Pokemon Go; the responsibilities for that rest with Niantic and The Pokemon Company.

Why isn't it free? Well, I like money.

If people continue to come here thinking this place is an actual Nintendo owned website when it clearly says that this is a fan site and not affiliated with Nintendo, well then they deserve to be given a hardtime.

If it's not good why do you care? If it is good why should it be free?

There are lots of other options to play if you want a free game that stops you in the middle of play to sell you an item or show you an advertisement. But if you want something a little higher quality without advertisements or interruptions than you can pay for a game and get the experience the developers want you to have. Entertainment without any cash-grabs.

This also means it's safe to hand a phone to your kids and let them play. They can't charge your card because there's no option to do so in game.

There are lots of advantages to making a paid game, though some disadvantages too. As you mentioned it's possible to make more money in the short-term with a free game, and you might vastly increase your install base. But if that experience isn't a good one, and people remember only the frustration of missing the X on the ads and opening itunes repeatedly, then you're hurting your brand and they might not download the sequel.
