Zelda is practically synonimous with great game. So the question isn't "Is it going to be any good?", but "How good is it going to be?" From what I can tell, pretty darn good. But let's see what the game has going for it:
Single Player:
Deep Story line that involves a new Hyrule, Zelda's death, and a mysterious new villian named Chancellor Coal
A Steam engine and train-tracks replace the typical Zelda horse/boat
Quoted as being "very challenging" from the man Aonuma himself
Use Zelda's spirit to possess evil Phantoms, and use them to fight enemies, walk across lava, and solve puzzles.
All new items including the Whirlwind, Snake Whip, and Pan Flute
Use the new musical instrument, The Pan Flute by using the touch screen and microphone to cast spells
People who complained about the Temple of the Ocean King in PH can take solace in knowing that, even though there is a similarly structured dungeon, you never have to go back and replay parts you've already beaten if you don't want to (although if you do you can use new items to uncover secrets)
Aonuma labeled it as the "most enjoyable Zelda game yet"
Multiplayer
Supports up to four players
can be played locally and online
Different from the multiplayer in Phantom Hourglass
You play all play as a different colored version of Link, trying to collect "force gems" (big gold triangle things) for points. You compete in a dungeon with Phantoms roaming about (Phantoms are knights who will try to kill you if you get in their line of sight). There's no "safe zones" this time around, so you'll either have to get them to attack another player or find a trap door to get rid of them with
*The latest edition of Nintendo.com's "Iwata Asks" is up. This time Iwata asks Aonuma about the game. As usual, it's pretty funny, insightful, and very informative. It's a bit lengthy but well worth a read (http://nintendods.com/iwataasks/vol10_page1.html)
The game is finally here! But my local Gamestop doesn't get the game till tomorrow
Online multiplayer?! Wha?! I'll be getting this or Phantasy Star Zero for Christmas, and I should mention this is the first Zelda game ever to excite me.
Oh. I only borrowed PH from a friend and didn't look into its multiplayer component very in-depth. There also isn't a Wi-Fi logo on the current LoZ: ST boxart. Hence my confusion. Thanks for clearing this up, though, as it's now my Christmas pick for sure!

To be honest I just assumed that the multiplayer included online since PH's did, but it's entirely possible that it doesn't. I'll have to look into that.

At first, I was not intrested in Spirit Tracks. But after hearing more about the game, I might buy it. Controlling Link and Zelda together sounds very intresting, and the reviews make the game sound extremly good. Then again, it all depends if I have enough money or not.
Yeah I don't want Link driving smart cars or anything, but a steam powered train is nice.
I loved the train from the first time I saw it. Of course when I first saw it, I thought you would actually be laying the tracks as well; once I heard it wasn't like that I was a little skeptical. Now I'm really loving it--it's been a very confusing relationship. I'm just going to have to play it myself to make the final call.

I really hope I get this for Christmas! This is gonna be the best Zelda game ever! I can't believe that I'm actually gonna be able to play as Zelda! I am about to soil my pants! Uh-oh... runs to get another pair of pants
IGN has a great new hands on with the final version of the game: http://ds.ign.com/articles/105/1052041p1.html Contrary to the review I recently posted, they said that although the game starts out easy, it gets very challenging. Not only that, but 10 hours in they're only about a 3rd of the way through the game. Add in all the side quests and this might be about a 20 hour adventure. Unheard of for a DS game.

Do you mean a 30 hour [adventure]? Do you mean for a non-RPG [DS game]? Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is at least 20 hours, I think.

Yeah now that I think about it there are some pretty lengthy DS games. For a handheld adventure game, though, 20 hours is pretty darn good.
