Topic: Person Trainer Cooking or America's Test Kitchen?

I have both! They're both worth owning.

Personal Trainer: Cooking has a lot of international foods. It was made in Japan so even the non-Japanese dishes have a lot of strange ingredients that you may not have in your kitchen (like Nam Pla Fish Sauce or Mirin or Rice Vinegar). You can choose the serving size and it automatically adjusts the ingredient amounts. It has 250 recipes but I don't think that number includes basic recipes like plain rice and pie dough (which are also included).

America's Test Kitchen has mostly American recipes that you've heard of and can easily get the ingredients for. It has 300 recipes but this number includes recipes for plain rice, boiled eggs, salad dressing etc. You can set up multiple profiles and set jobs for each chef to do (great if you're cooking as a family). From what I've seen, the recipes seem a little easier than PT:Cooking. The one flaw is that you can't adjust the serving sizes and most recipes are for 6-8 people.

Both games have videos, substitution suggestions, a shopping list, and the ability to filter out ingredients.

If you only want one, get America's Test Kitchen unless you are already a skilled chef. So far I've used ATK to make jambalaya, peanut butter cookies, chicken parmesan, toasted-garlic broccoli, and grilled lemon chicken. I've used PT:Cooking to make tomato scrambled eggs, tuna-broccoli sushi rice, pork curry, banana brownies, and sugar crepes.

Would you like me to type out the recipes each game includes?

I'd get both....By the way, the "normal" recipes that you said had odd ingredients, those weren't odd, the recipes might be authentic.

Oh I agree. It's not a bad thing that the recipes have those ingredients. It's just that it might be harder to find them if you're living in North America. I couldn't find nam pla fish sauce or nuoc mam fish sauce anywhere, even in Asian supermarkets.

The fish sauces can be substituted with soy sauce but it makes the recipe taste different. I substituted Chinese chicken stock with regular chicken broth and mirin with white wine.
