Anyone take the plunge on this one? I'm curious but would like to learn some more about it before I go spend-spend. Does it have the same content as the DS game from last year or is it all new?
It's hard to say on both fronts since I'm only on the Bronze difficulty so far. But I'll tell you what: I'll come back and give you an idea of what to expect when I play more. Sounds good?
Sure sure, looking forward to your impressions! I was quite fond of the Wii version so if this is a good portable equivalent then I might just splurge.
I've got the review. I haven't played it a whole lot yet but I will say this: A) it's the best DSiWare game I've reviewed here on Nintendo Life B) That's not saying much C) But it's actually pretty good. It's incredibly ugly, but it's quite fun thus far. It's extremely silly (you can jump your car over other cars, go on two wheels to slip between cops, etc.) but that's what makes it unique. I can't say it's totally worth the money at this point, but...that's what reviews are for

...... what i'm wondering about is that if it is better than asphalt 4
Asphalt 4 is overrated, it dosent even stack up to the content in asphalt 2. Drift street international is great, and I'm still waiting for nintendo to fix the US shop so I can download this game. By the looks of the video, it looks like the DS version with tweaked graphics and better framerate.
Love and laughter are the ultimate powers of the universe.
Ok guys I got it yesterday and play it for 3 hours. Whats Great:
Tweak graphics to cars and backgrounds, and driving physics
Smoother Framerate
multiple tags flies out of your car when you touch two rings to cover your territory.
Ability to take a picture and draw your own custom tag
SUPER BOOST if time right at beginning or race, your car will make a huge jump
New ramming option when getting in close of a car. (same as in the hot pursuit events)
what sucks:
(same crappy sound effects ) I cant stand but to feel embarrassed in a room full of people with that star splash sound.
Less Soundtracks I think it only 4 or maybe 3 songs in the game. (also there speed up to save space)
Still cant draw on cars, (compared to old need for speed games on the DS)
Backgrounds dont change color and more when touching dark orange rings (like the original version)
Hot Pursuit events feel tacked at the last minute (I can knock out 4 cars in one event if i time it correctly) I wish I could hit the cars more than once that would make it way more fun, hopefully it will happen when the game gets harder.
to sumarize, if you like the original but was angry about the choppy framerate, then this will make up for it. Other than that its kind of bland compared to more serious racing games like drift street international (best feel of speed and drifting and shiny cars and graphics) and asphalt 4 (arcade racing). If you played those other racing games, JUST DONT EXPECT MUCH and you'll enjoy it. It does have some fantastic level design and nice jumps. But yeah Im a guy who loves racing on a DS.
