Topic: Missing! Have you seen me? Upcoming DS releases

It is all coming to an end.

Since the release of the 3DS last month, it appears it is fast approaching the end for new DS offerings as it is the end of the DS's life cycle, but the tail end of a system's life cycle can be an exciting time with the release of sleeper hits like the publicized EU release of Solatorobo and other assorted smaller titles. Many retail stores I've visited have already trimmed down their DS selection by 50% despite not having many 3DS titles released, so it will undoubtedly be harder to find newer titles for DS down the pipeline.

I'm personally looking forward to Solatorobo, ATV Wild Ride and the NA release of Giana Sisters.

With Solatorobo, I personally considered importing the translated EU copy when it was released, but I've heard it could be an issue for 3DS owners as the Japanese version preceding it appeared to only be playable on the JP 3DS, so that could wreck my plans to import from EU and play the game on the NA 3DS. Very sad, if anyone can confirm this, I'd appreciate it.

Sadly, despite being announced a short while back, the NA release of Giana Sisters and ATV Wild Ride seem to have dropped off the grid completely. Will these still be released? If anyone has any news about these, please report back.

What titles are you looking forward to, if any, that are supposed to be coming out on the DS in the future?

Haha I picked up NiNoKuni in Japanese when it was going for $50 US. I don't read (or speak) a word of Japanese, but I hope to pick enough up to be able to play it! Plus, I wanted to get the full packaging with it, which some people seem to doubt will come with a western release.

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

Dragon Quest VI (Europe), Solatorobo, Ni no Kuni and Kirby for now.

3DS has very little storage space in the Gamestop and Saturn stores in my city for now. DS recently still steals the show.

It will most likely be confirmed for a western release this E3. Just like the previous games in the series.

In many ways the DS systems have been the best consoles of all time - not in ALL ways, but in many...I've played around 75 DS games and currently own 30.

The three games I'm waiting for are:

One Piece Gigant Battle (from the makers of Jump Ultimate All Stars that never got localized outside Japan);

Proff Layton and the Spectre's Flute (IF we ever get it - surely we will considering it success);

Kirby Gathering DS (the new Kirby game about to be released in Japan).

I'm pretty much done with the DS back catelogue too I think. I recently got the superb Puzzle Quest 1 DS (from the back catelogue of the DS) and am loving it. That's it though I think and I'll be needing reviews for Kirby DS and One Piece DS.

Still hoping NoA will save me the trouble of importing Solatorobo.
Look NoA, I know it's probably going to cost me more than a US game to import (as I've heard US games generally are cheaper than other countries), and you'd like some of my money, so why don't you make us both happy?
Otherwise, still got my original DS if I have to go the import route.

I'd hope Ni no Kuni gets announced for DS, but it has left me wondering if they're just going to localize the PS3 version instead (bad for me, since I don't own one).
Kirby and Layton are likely to make it because of their success. Then again, I'm still hoping for Square-Enix to make me regret importing SaGa 3. Though they proved me wrong when I thought SaGa 2 had a good chance of being localized because every game since the PS1 had been (ignoring WSC because the console itself never came out outside Japan).

@KingMike: I'm hoping NOA will publish Solatorobo in the US as well. If Nintendo is localizing it for Europe already, they wouldn't even need to translate anything to publish it here except change the region coding.

Off-topic Squaresoft talk...also, Tobal 2 never saw the light of day here.

Just picked up Duke Nukem: Critical Mass. I didn't know they were actually still releasing it for the US market. Hope I don't regret it.

Most of the good titles are hitting Japan, but there's a handful of solid games lined up elsewhere. Add Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2 to what the others have said.

Not to mention, we still haven't got (fairly) recent games like the Fire Emblem 3 remake yet, which may or may not make it. I don't think the DS is going to curl up and die so easily, the thing sold about 150 million units and 3DS supports DS games. Some companies are likely going to want to take advantage of a larger userbase and the cheaper development kits.
