If I understand correctly, all the DSiWare already purchased for my DSi, cannot be transferred to the DSi XL. That alone means that I will never be buying a DSi XL.

Strange policy Nintendo.

You got an XL after the 3DS was announced to be released within a year? Okay...

Anyway, it does look pretty badass.

@Scarecrow: Nintendo are apparently at work on a solution to transfer DSiWare.

I don't have a DSi yet, so I might consider getting this. but there are a lot of games coming out that I want to get, so I will probably just keep my DSlite for now

I've heard the DSi XL isn't built as good as the DSi and while the larger screens are great, the resolution is still the same resulting in worse graphics I'll stick with my DSLite. Besides the 3DS is coming out in a year in Japan....And while I love my White DSLite, I would like a few functions from the DSi like the power button change and volume buttons....but eh, it's totaly not worth the extra cash, and I hate it's Matte outer surface finish. Instead I'm going to be stocking up on DS games....

I've already picked up a few....Trauma Centre 2, Elite Beat Agents and Brain Age 2.
And I can't wait for Dementium II! it's going to awesome, and I'm totaly psyched for it

SWEET! I can't wait to get mine.

I'm getting a DSi XL. I had to sell my DS Lite a while ago but kept my key games. I have Chrono Trigger to finish. I can't wait to play it on the DSi XL.

I see the 3DS more like what Nintendo did with the original DS and the Game Boy Advance. The DS offered a different gaming experience you could not have on the GB Advance. Fortunately the DS took off so Nintendo was able to let go of the Gameboy.

Nintendo is taking another chance with the 3DS. It is offering a different gaming experience not possible (at least they say) on the DSi. It is a whole new gaming platform.

There is no guarantee that the 3DS will even take off with the mainstream let alone game developers, we know the Virtual Boy did not.

For these reasons, I have no problems picking up a DSi XL. The DS already has a huge library of games filled with quality titles and the larger screens and longer battery life are a big plus for me.

When or even "if" the 3DS takes off in the future I might trade up but in the mean time I'm going to enjoy some quality games on the DSi XL

Who are you kidding? Of course it's going to take off!
3D, Motion Sensor Controls, Tilt function, Rumble Force Feedback, High resolution screens. Analog stick, GCN graphics ect.
Already it's sounding like a HUGE step and upgrade over the DS. Nintendo will amaze everybody at E3, I'm so excited for the 3D alone....Just creating depth to the environments and so on would be incredible.

No way I am buying a DSi XL. I love my regular DSi due to it's smaller size. Isn't that the point of a handheld? Why take a beast-sized handheld with you everywhere you go? Also, the announcement of the 3DS sealed the deal for me, no way I am buying a DSi XL now.

Never had a DS before so I'll probably get the DSiXL when the 3DS drives the price of it down next year. If the DS line has taught us anything it's that there's no use in buying the 3DS in it's first iteration because there will be another better version of it in one to two years (if it doesn't fail a'la Virtual Boy). I also find it funny that people believe the rumor that the 3DS is going to be as powerful as the GameCube while also having 3D and rumors of rumble, tilt, motion sensing, etc (not sure if they announced backwards compatibility or not). All that equates to severe battery suck. I'll be surprised if it's even as powerful as the PSP if Nintendo does jam all those rumors specs into it along with the 3D gimmick.

There's nothing wrong with the visuals on the LL/XL; if anything small details are easier to make out. It's not like the pixels are suddenly twice as large or anything...

Ninty's strategy with portables has been:
Comparatively Small size
Comparatively long battery life
Comparatively low price
Comparatively weak technology

This strategy has been working for them since the brick Game Boy days, and I doubt they'll abandon this strategy entirely. The 3D tech has already been on cell phones in Japan for a while now. Gamecube will be about two generations behind by the time it's released, technically (The DS was comparable to N64/PS1 and was released in the GC era). Rumble has never been utilized on that many games, and again you can set your cell phone to vibrate and that doesn't completely kill it. Everything except 3D are all available features on the itouch/iphone already. It's not that out of this world.

I'm not buying a DSiXL. I did buy a refurbed DSLite to play some GBA games, since I've given up on there being a VC on DSi, would like to use palpark, and you can get them super cheap from HK (of course, I can't use it yet, since all the games sold there are fakes, so I'll just pick those up used when I get home).

*HK=Hong Kong (I live in China, so HK is a very convenient place for me to purchase things from.)

Even if I had money to spare, the DS Lite is still my favourite DS incarnation, and i've seen no convincing reason to upgrade since I bought it.

I've got red wine to, the cam is better, most the games for DS are actually made at higher resolution and don't actually look any different.
Most of the games actually look better.

I don't get why theres so many worrys, good grief.

So far I haven't seen anything that warrants the purchase of the DSi or DSi XL for me. I'll just wait till that new 3D one comes out. That's gonna be the real sucessor.

@Rensch: Yea, I don't believe in waiting, Nintendo will continue to crank out new systems. Its easier waiting knowing a new one is coming out, but what if they announce another system for the year after that and say the Nintendo 3DS+XLite&Watch will be compatible with all Game Boy and Gamecube games? Then that'll be 2 years of waiting instead of gaming. I actually know someone thats been waiting since the DS Lite came out.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
