Topic: Flipnote Petitions.... too much or too overbearing?

Flipnote Studio has been out and we all hopped on board with our idea. A Flipnote user, Jacob, made a one-page Flipnote stating a petition for a Super Smash Bros. title for DS/DSi. Almost immediately, star ratings shot up, spin-offs were generated and some of the Flipnote animators are readying their styli for war. I'm happy for the cause but many things are bothering me.

• The idea is cool, but do demands to Nintendo work? We haven't seen game petitions work out for Nintendo yet, so why start now?
• What about users who have created world-changing, groundbreaking and overall, awesome Flipnotes that deserve mega-attention but are ignored by users who keep clamoring about these petitions for Smash Bros. DS?
• The original is being spun off everywhere on Flipnote Hatena (even on the wrong channels!) and the channels that are there for a animation purpose are being ignored by users who want the mass number of stars generated by Jacob's original?

Again, I'm saying, I'm not against it but it's going too far. One petition would've been enough but over 100 or even 1,000? And the stars being given to the spinoffs, sure that's good support but wouldn't commenting it be a bit more beneficiary?
I'm not gonna keep typing about this, instead, NintendoLife users, you can give your sound off here. Do you have a problem with it? Speak up! Support it fully? Say why!

I love the idea of Smash Bros. on DS but is pressuring the game company we all love going to solve our problems?

I agree. I put more work into any of my flipnotes than the people who start petitions, and I don't even get 25 stars!

Demanding a Smash Bros. game for the DSi won't do much ,what with so many other petitions around and the ability to email Nintendo whenever you like. Not to mention even if Nintendo DID give into pressure, they wouldn't be able to come out the next day and say "We're making a Smash Bros game for DS, we just started it yesterday so now you petition people can be quiet and stuff."Besides, your petitions could be potentially be deleted and the would be the end. Furthermore, I think thing s like this overshadow the people who actually put EFFORT into making an animation. Writing one or two things on a page is simply a waste of time, server space, and puts the people who actually make animations to shame. I sincerely hope petitions will be banned from Hatena, but I doubt they will be. A massive, useless, page clogging, waste of time.

Now if you want to make a cool animation of Smash Bros characters fighting each other or something, go right ahead. If you throw in a little message that mentions how good a SSB DS game would be, that's fine. Just please, please, don't make depressing animations that took no time or effort when you could be emailing Nintendo what you want. Making these petitions just ruins the experience for other people.

Step One: E-Mail bomb on all possible channels to nintendo that this stuff is annoying.
Step Two: Build a group of Spam-Fighters
Step Three: Report EVERY spam you can find. again and again

maybe Nintendo get's a clue what's going on then.... it's really annoying!

i hate how petitions are top videos instead of ANIMATIONS! And where did the whole ssb ds come from anyway?

Petitions are taking the spots of great animations and people can puts lots of time and effort in their animations and can barely get any points and the petitions are getting all sort of publicity and stars etc when they dont derserve it.
I dont mind Flipnote animations having a point or a message if they have some sort of animation to back them up, just get rid of the single page "we want... blah, blah blah" flipnotes with no effort.

I found a highly rated petition - it said something like "please allow flash player support for our dsi so we can visit newgrounds" - are these people idiots!? I can barely open a 500kB webpage without running out of system memory never mind a 10mB flash file!
(All the spin off petitions can only be fishing for stars and high rankings - then again, when you can give your own flipnote 7000 stars, it's hardly surprising)

I've never seen a petition work...ever! I like the animations but the petitions aren't even animated so they're boring and a waste of time and money!

Quick update: this Flipnote is the highest-rated so far in the Americas topping the Flipnote Hatena site with (get this) 2,391,911 stars!

Why is this petition number 1 and not some other super-cool animation that should've deserved these stars?

There's also one where the author wants free things off the DSi shop channel. Here is a transcript:

Looking at his profile it seems he's a bit of a revolutionary - another flipnote wants, and I quote: "Just an idea for the DSi Shop...Nintendo Should make something so that we can...[watch] videos on Google or Youtube. Please give me stars or comment me if I'm right [flashing red and blue text] Thank You! By Hazza" A respectable 3,017 stars for that one.

The petitions are terrible - they will not work. I'm sure there are a couple of people who actually want something out of a petition (Smash Bros DS for example), but mostly all of everyone else are just doing it for the stars.

Hopefully it's just a fad.

But if there's anything I know about internet fads, is that nobody on Hantena knows which ones haven't been funny for five years. These will not end, but I think they will lose popularity.

To me, it will be like a rickroll if they try other ways to get around the message.

and btw,ppl give themselves 12000 stars too...sure i added a star to myself to eaven the number (like 3 or something),but this is too much.

i mean,im not an anime draw master or anything,but i bet my anims top quite a few of them lame ones who give themselves thousands of stars.i bet u dont do the same thing.

well,there should be a limit on how many stars u give.or at least to be able to sort flipnotes in the list by stars a bit more specificaly...

I realy hate what flipnote hatena has become... i dont enjoy it as much.

oh and did u see folks editing 1 color of a flipnote and posting as their own? yeah,folks who rate r that stupid (example "new cakes" - color changed to blue instead of red)... whatever.

God forbid Nintendo did something right:D (yes,yes... Hatena bares this burden aswell)
