So I figure there's no better way to get the NintendoLife crew together than a good ol'-fashioned tournament. Considering that Pokemon is the second most successful franchise in gaming history and the DS is the most successful bit of hardware in gaming history, it seemed the logical choice. To that end, I present the first of what will hopefully be many NintendoLife Pokemon tournaments. Wanna compete for fame, fortune and fabulous prizes? Read on!
Anyone who's interested, throw your Friend Code up here and I'll draw up a simple elimination ladder, matching foe against foe. The tournament will start on the first of May, so that'd give you three weeks or so to train. The tournament would last for a week, so there should be plenty of time for everyone to organise and schedule each battle. We'd be going off the honour system here, so I'd have to take each party's word on who won and lost. Once a final winner is declared, I hook them up with their prizes and a new tournament gets announced.
In the future there'll probably be unique rules and themes for each competition, but for now, let's keep things simple. 3v3, standard rulesets, auto-level to 100, no hacked/illegal Pokemon. Seems fair enough?
Remember those prizes I mentioned? Well, for the first tournament I figure we might as well stick with the classics: the winner will receive their very own Mew, as handed out by Nintendo at some point last year. It'd be the European "Aura Sphere" version, so totally legit and worth getting a hold of. The winner would also receive their very own EXCLUSIVE NINTENDOLIFE POKEYMANZ OMG - in this instace, the Moai Head Pokemon himself, Nosepass! Freshly hatched, with a unique moveset, and shiny to boot! Truly a treasure to be... um, treasured.
Anyway, that's enough for now. I'll throw up a full rundown of the prizes, and a list of banned Pokemon, later. I'll also update the OP with all the current Friend Codes and such when appropriate. If you're interested, post away!
Awsome, I play Pokemon competitively (I do EVs and everything), but Ill probably have to pass, I am not available really for the first week of May. Sucks for me, but I hope the winner shall have a level 100 252 Attack and Speed EVed Garchomp with a 31 IV in Attack so that I can say they stole my Garchomp (or at least I hope the winner knows what the hell I just said ).
Well I'm hardly gonna be strict about it, the actual dates are mostly there as a means of weeding out who can and can't be relied upon to actually take part, heh.
On the subject of Pokemon, who wants to try and win Pokemon Platinum? I know that most Pokemon fans will already own one of the games on the DS, but just in case there's anyone out there longing for a copy, here's a quick competition to enter.

Well it was set to start on the first of this month so I guess it can start the first of next month instead - provided enough people bother to enter to make it worthwhile!
My PC's busted right now (maybe one or two of you noticed, but I doubt it) so I'll re-start the thread in a day or so.
