This is a thread about amiibos. Do you like the Zelda and Loftwing Amiibo? What's your favorite amiibo? You have to answer these questions. It is just some things to talk about. Do you wish Amiibos were more useful? Well, please don't argue.

I wish Amiibo unlocked less important stuff, in a wider variety of games. For example the new Zelda/loftwing Amiibo unlocking fast travel in Skyward Sword is too useful of a QoL improvement to lock behind a paywall. I would prefer they kept it more like skins or somewhat useful items, and in a hand full of games. Not just one or two.

They are fun to collect as figurines though. I have four; Palutena, Bayonetta, Snake, and Majora's Mask Link.

Just got into them recently, using a ton for my second play through of BOTW - I really like them, wish they made more for other games

That was my first thought, but honestly after playing through SSHD... bird statues are everywhere. It was never more than maybe a one minute jog to the nearest bird statue, every region has about 10 of them. I have the amiibo and I never even thought to bother tapping it in. Like sure it'd save some time, but its such a small amount that in practice I think it does constitute a very minor convenience.

I love Amiibo but I wish that they were more accessible to the general public. I've collected several Amiibo with Terry being my favorite so far (although I've lost my Mega Man Amiibo) but there are so many others I'd like to have but are simply unavailable. For example I was looking forward to collecting the Monster Hunter Amiibo but when the time of release came they were all sold out and nowhere to be found. Just do a quick search on Amazon and see how much these cost now. It's unbelievable really.

My brother wanted to buy the Ocarina of Time Link but he costs over $50.00 on Amazon! A figurine that cost a little more than $15.99 is now over double or sometimes even three times that price! I find that to be quite distasteful especially when a figure like that Link in particular unlocks an exclusive outfit in Breath of The Wild with no way to get it otherwise. If Nintendo would put more effort to at least re release the figures every now and then or just simply release them as cards then things would and could be different.

I just wish there was a way so that everyone who wanted a figure could collected them without having to pay more than they should. That's my only complaint really. Other than that these figures are something I really enjoy collecting. Not so much for the features they bring but for the figure(s) themselves.

@Ninfan you could try to scan any NFC chip you may have at home, be it amiibo or other non-bank items such as subway/bus cards, on the system settings or in any game where you can scan amiibo. If it reacts, that's your way to know your Joy-Con it still works as an NFC reader.
