Topic: Should Nintendo add amiibo and NN3DS functions to its old games?

Like the title says, I would love to see Nintendo put some effort into adding new features from their amiibo and New Nintendo 3DS platforms to games released before either came out. I wouldn't want them to take significant time away from developing new games to update old ones, but if they could dedicate a small team to it, I think it would add value to both amiibo and the New 3DS and make both more enticing to new customers.

For example, we've seen how nice it is to finally play Majora's Mask with a freely controllable camera. Why not put out a patch for Ocarina of Time 3D that allows the same? The C-Stick could be used the same way in New Super Mario 3D Land, as well, or Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

As for amiibo, there are a ton of possibilities, both on Wii U and 3DS that would make buying them just a little more worthwhile than they actually are. If Nintendo really wants these things to succeed in the long term and they aren't actually going to make the dedicated "Nintendolanders" game we all want, then the figures should be supported by as many games as possible, and I would love to see older games make use of them. After all, it seemed easy enough to update Mario Kart 8 to use them, which didn't sell any more copies of Mario Kart 8, but even something as simple as Mii skins was enough to sell a fair few figures in a game as popular as that one.

So why not add amiibo functions to a bunch of pre-amiibo games?
Like another Mario Kart update with more suits now that there are more amiibo (I want Bowser, Shiek and Meta Knight suits, Nintendo!).
Or adding themed bonus levels to Super Mario 3D World based on the franchises of amiibo scanned (who wouldn't want to run and jump through Celadon City after scanning a Pikachu or throw fireballs at Deku Babas instead of Piranha Plants?) Maybe you unlock the level with the first scan and then, a la Hyrule Warriors, every subsequent scan gets you a life or random powerup.
Or having certain characters grant special weapons Fire Emblem Awakening (I think you can already get forms of the Falchion and Ragnell, but they're not particularly accurate, so that could work, but the Lucina amiibo could give Lucina, say, a bow that she can use without switching to a bow-wielding class, or scanning Robin could give your avatar access to dark magic, like he has in Smash. Heck, having Link give the Master Sword or Toon Link give the Skull Hammer or Meta Knight give Galaxia or Dedede give his starred hammer would all be pretty cool extras.).
Or letting Pikachu, Lucario and Charizard unlock special outfits or, even better, those pokémon in a shiny form, or with a special ability or move or something in Pokémon X & Y and Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire.

Do you agree it would be good to see Nintendo adding C-Stick and amiibo functions to its older games as a way of making those products more marketable? What are some other ideas you'd have for that?

As much as I'd love to see some of these, I think it would cost Nintendo far more than it would be worth.

Yes!!! They should at least do it for select games...OOT3D would be a no-brainer. It would also be interesting to see how Starfox 3D would play with C-stick support.
With a lil' bit of clever marketing Nintendo could breathe new life into those older games and give 3DS owners an incentive to buy the New3DS.

No, as what you are requesting would require a tremendous use of resources and most of the teams have moved onto other projects and it would not be entirely straightforward for them to retroactively implement amiibo functionality. I do wish that Nintendo had allowed the C-stick to be used in place of the circle pad with existing games similarly to how the circle pad can be used in place of the keypad with old DS games. I suppose this could be fixed with a future update, but only time can tell at this point.

While it would be nice if say, Fire Emblem: Awakening would support the existing figures, there are at least two new Fire Emblem games on the horizon anyway, and they might as well just implement amiibo functionality into those titles instead.

Yes they should, but they won't is the short answer.

Systems: Wii U, Wii, New 3DS Ambassador Edition, 2DS
Amiibo Collection: Villager, Rosalina, Zelda, Sheik, Toon Link, Link, Marth, Ike, Robin, Lucina, Pit, Shulk, Fox, Yoshi, Toad, Squid Inkling, Meta Knight, Ganondorf (pre-ordered), Yarn Yoshi (pre-ordered)

It would be nice to see new 3DS support for some games (like faster loading for lego city undercover: the chase begins) but it's very unlikely Nintendo would sink money into games that didn't initially support the circle pad pro.
