It will lets you have a 2nd Yoshi in Yoshi's Wolly World and it can also be used as a computer player in both versions of Smash, a new outfit in Mario Kart 8, has a character in Mario Party 10, lets you play as Yoshi in Super Mario Maker and all amiibo work in Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad, Amiibo Tap but it's only small things like extra lives, rupess etc.
That's odd, the list is missing Amiibo Tap and Art Academy and is including future releases like Yoshi but not others like Super Mario Maker which comes out before it.
Hi I am also interested in learning amiibo. Having searched the term on Google, I am still confused about how it works.
I don't have Wii U, but I do have N3ds. I know that amiibo saves game's progress. So does that mean I can save any game onto amiibo instead the sd memory card in my console?
In addition, how do I save my game progress to amiibo? Will the screen pop up and give me an option to do so? Sorry I am new to this. Thanks.

Amiibo don't act as memory cards, and they don't save game progress. They only save certain Amiibo specific data for certain games, such as Smash Bros where they only save the Amiibo's fighter progress. You use the Amiibo to put it into the game, level it up by fighting it, and then save that progress back onto the Amiibo. You still need a Micro SD card to save everything else onto.
