Topic: Full of list first party Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Gear games missing from the 3DS VC (The old thread)

I just wanted a full list of first party Game Boy and Game Boy Color games still missing from the 3DS VC.

You missed Revenge of the Gator.

Personally surprised Solar Striker isn't available yet, as it was an early GB title. I loved playing it as a kid!

Don't deny that SMB Deluxe won't come. It'll be stupid of them not to, as pricing it at $6 would show people that it's the definite version. Plus it's my first game, so I want it badly.

I edited my first post because I realized that Nintendo does allow more than one version of VC games on their service, but the Donkey Kong Country games are getting removed from the Wii VC so the Donkey Kong Land games don't look too likely. I also added Revenge of the Gator to the list.

Revenger of the gator is not first party, it's HAL

I don't know if taking a game off the WiiVC is enough to discount something. The Sonic games were taken off, but they're putting Sonic VC games on the 3DS VC.

Not in NA... Sonic labyrinth and blast are MIA despite them being ready to go.

But we're not talking about specific regions, just games being on the service at all. And NA has Triple Trouble right?

Anyway, at this point its about the potential to come out, since what is on the VC here in Japan is a huge indicator of what could come out in other regions. SRAter should add a Game Gear section to his lists.

I just looked at the NA release schedule. It IS kind of crazy. You guys had 6 games in October, including 2 games that we don't even have in Japan yet, but none in November yet. In Japan we always average about 7 or 8 a month. At least you guys finally get Zelda II next week.

They have triple trouble and the other 2, but that's our only GG game. The other GG games aren't here at all. Heck, even some blockbuster GG games aren't in Japan or anywhere, like Super columns.

I never heard of the DKC games getting removed. They were up yesterday.
Revenge of the Gator and Vegas Stakes are second-party (HAL).
As to Yoshi's Cookie... Nintendo may or may not own the rights to the GB version. They most likely don't own the SNES version (and apparently had to re-license the game to release the JP-only GameCube version).
Wario Land II was released in two versions, original Game Boy and then Game Boy Color several months later (though most people don't realize that, possibly because Nintendo didn't change the name at all). But obviously they're not going to release the monochrome version (just like they're not going to release the original Link's Awakening).
Tetris 2 and Tetris DX are less likely to be released because of the license (even though Tetris 2 plays more like a Dr. Mario sequel). Maybe Nintendo was willing to pay to get the original Tetris up because it's a gaming icon? Same with Tetris Attack, even though they could (but probably won't) release the Japanese version Yoshi's Panepon to save the licensing fees. (and assuming Tetris Company would even want to grant them the right to release Tetris Attack. As they said, it's a good game but it's not Tetris.)
I never played it, is Pokemon Puzzle Challenge also a Tetris Attack clone? (like how on Wii VC, Nintendo released Pokemon Puzzle League for N64 as a substitute in NA and PAL)

Revenge Of The Gator would be great.

This is an excellent topic. It shows how few vital first party games those two systems really had, and just shows how badly the VC needs Game Boy Advance games too. The Pokemon titles seem essential, I'm just wondering how they'd handle the trading functionality. It honestly shouldn't be as hard they're making it, but that's probably the only reason they haven't reaped the bank from that series yet.

That's not too bad considering how most of the Gameboy games anyone cares about (and even than, usually not 1/20 as much as any Nintendo console from the entire Gameboy lifespan, sucks but it's true) are Nintendo only. It's like most people's reaction to Wii, except the opinion is almost valid in some way.

There's no good excuse not to release any of those outside of reasons you've listed though. Hope they do, especially the Oracle games. Also I keep forgetting Wave Race started as a Gameboy game.

For the games on that list that haven't been released in any region yet, I'd only be really interested in buying 3 of them, while there are at least 20 other GB/GBC games I'd love to buy if they ever became available.

They could replace Kirby Tilt n Tumble's tilt controls with gyro constrols!
