Ah okie. That kinda sucks really. Sounds like a whole new system to be able to play Xenoblade.
Well other games like Majora's Mask wil have features that can only be used on the New 3DS even though it can be played on the 3DS, I also wouldn't rule out Snes, GBA games becoming available for it on the virtual console too.

I'm not sure how Xenoblade would work without the second circle pad anyway. You wouldn't be able to rotate the camera.
That's not the issue as Monster Hunter used the touch screen to do that. What it needs obviously is the processing power. Monster Hunter is just made easier with the second circle pad.

But still. £50 for the game and £150 (Guesstimate) for the console. Almost the same price as a premium Wii U. It's a big gamble by the Big N.
The target audience isn't necessarily those who already have a 3DS, but those who have yet to purchase one. It's a move intended to extend the lifespan of the 3DS.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

So It's basically a new console. Nintendo need to take out the "new" 3DS moniker and and call it something else as It sounds to me like it's got new hardware in there which more powerful. Personally I wouldn't even call it a 3DS if It's forcing current systems being abandoned due to "New" software stop from working. Just going to confuse alot of people at the end of the day. Could be a parent buys His/Her Son/Daughter a "new" game. Pops it into the current 2DS/3DS to find out it's not compatible. Thus forcing a nice £150 upgrade. Seems a gamble and a dangerous tactic really on Nintendos part. I could barely afford My Wii U and 2DS. Not going to put another load of money into a "New" system for another couple years.

It is a console revision with a minor upgrade. There is only one game that is n3ds only and that is Xenoblade. Everything else will work on the older models. No need for Nintendo to say they created a successor. If this were a phone, then sure since they change every year but a game system requires more extensive changes to qualify as a successor.

Where I agree it's not a successor I also agree it will further confuse people. I don't like the fact I can't play every 3ds game on my old system and certain games will now have extra features with it like Smash Bros. Who know where the exclusives will end though. For all we know they have 5 more games in the works and I'm afraid they're working on a new Metroid that will need the new system. I'll be extremely upset if this happens.

Why do I see nintendo releasing a bunch of "upgraded" titles (first that comes to mind is RE: Revelations) that will incorporate the C-Stick (remember when nintendo released the GC games on Wii with Waggle controls? That's what I see here)...

Wouldn't RE:R already be able to use since it had the circle pro support?

It already does.

So they should also remake Luigi Mansion 2. It would be convenient to use the second analog stick just like it was for the first episode on the gamecube.

No need for a remake. If Nintendo wanted to, they could just patch in support for certain games - but it's pointless, since Luigi's Mansion 2 passed its main sales period quite some time ago.
