That's what I'm thinking too, Robo-goose. I'm going to try and hold out for the 3DS lite, but if the price doesn't turn out to be too high and there's a must have game for me that comes out sooner, I might cave.

im getting a month or two after it comes out cause i need to sell my dsi to have enough money and the local garage sale day (were every one in my neighberhood has a garage sale) and also i want to know more about the 3ds ans i want the library to be a little bigger
have a wii,dsi, gba and gcn but getting a 3ds and ps3. my fave game of alltime for all systems is black ops on wii
I waited until Mario Kart came out before I got a DS, and I may end up doing the same for the 3DS. I'm a bit torn though. I'm always the guy who gets the first generation of a handheld and wishes I had the new installment that always comes out. I still have my original GBA and DS Phat. But I don't know if I can wait for the improved 3DS!
Well, I wasn't going to get it at launch, and wait for a better version. But then I looked up the original DS, and it was 2 years before the DSlite came out, and 2 years after that before the DSi. So, I'm not waiting 2 years for the new version of the 3DS, might as well get my hands on one as soon as possible! (Plus I already sold my DS lite, and now have nothing to play my ds games on).
The DS Lite didn't come out a full 2 years after the DS. It was more like a year and a half. I remember, because I waited a year before I got a DS, and then like 6 months later the DS Lite came out. That was frustrating.
^ The Minish Cap is your all time favorite game? I thought it was one of the worst Zeldas. I got to the boss, but never took the time to kill him and finish the game. Somewhere in cyberspace Link is waiting outside Vaati's door for me to control him.
As I just got my PS3 earlier this year and is content with that and my Wii, plus having to worry about school and college, it won't be at launch and probably not this year either. I say somewhere between 2012 and 2016 if a new handheld hasn't been announced by then.
I usually get new consoles a month after it comes out ,but with all this graduation stuff I have to get this year, it could be a while. Hopefully, I can scrap up some money to get one during the summer.
I just know I'm going to want one of these, and I've been debating with myself for months over this. My biggest concern is the small size screen. My old eyes struggle to see on my DSi as it is, and the 3DS's touch screen is only the size of the DS-Lite's. I use my DSi a lot, and my favourite thing to do on it is drawing with Art Academy. For that reason alone I'm put off by the 3DS.
So I've just now made up my mind. I just ordered the Mario red DSi XL that I debated getting at Christmas. And what I'm going to do is hold out and hope Nintendo comes out with a 3DS XL version with larger screens. When/if they do that, or if the price drops enough, then I'll get the 3DS.
{sniff sniff} I'll be sad not having a 3DS when the rest of you get yours, but at least that'll give me time to save up for one.
