So, as of right now, the 3DS stands with two Zelda games made specifically for the console (meaning I'm not counting VC games).
I get the feeling there's already a post for this, but what do you think we could see as the next Zelda title on the system?
A realistic Twilight Princess style game?
Another Wind Waker spinoff in the same vein as Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass?
That ever-so-wanted Majora's Mask remake?
Or something completely different?
I hope the next Zelda title on the 3DS follows in Twilight Princess's footsteps with the dark tones and more realistic character models to really push the system with a title that pushed Nintendo hardware once before (referring to the original Ocarina of Time on the N64).
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

A sequel to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. A new story covering by far the best Link in the series (the Hero of Time). It takes the best traits from its predecessors: the pacing, dungeon length/quantity of OoT, combined with the darker themes and immersion of MM.
Graphically I would want it to look like OoT3D, but with better environmental geometry and character models. Grezzo made a great engine but it didn't push the 3DS very far due to its N64 foundation. Imagine a Zelda game on 3DS with the polygon count and frame rate of say, Monster Hunter. That's a game we'd all die for.

Oh, and because it's the end to a legendry trilogy, it has to be just all out epic, with stakes higher than ever and characters at an all time low.
Here's an example: After saving Termina and becoming a hero there, he stays for the rest of his childhood and enjoys a mostly peaceful life. Things change when he has dreams of Zelda in a sick state, being attended by Impa. He has a feeling something is wrong in Hyrule and knows he must fix it. He takes Epona through the woods in search of a way back. When he gets there, half of Hyrule has been wiped out by a disease. You have to go through the dungeons, progress through the story, fight the final boss and get the cure, you get the drift.
Something really dramatic and gritty but also hopeful and empowering, just like a finale should be.
I think we all know its going to be Majora's Mask hands down, AFTER that however I think we will be making a return to the adult time line as its the only one that got away from hyrule .
While i think the Wii U version will be going down the child time line again. As just for a general idea as we have had a Water and sky setting i think for the child time line something underground would be neat , especially it being the darkest of the time lines and is the polar opposite of the sky.

i fear for the worst and think 3ds is done with zelda iterations. sad story but might be true
most platforms got maximum 2 zeldas. And yes i count the OoT remake as taking one slot at the two zelda game thingy.
anyway a new true metroid would be better imo anyway. 3ds got 0 metroids and yet u want to have 3 zeldas ? What about balancing heh ?
ps: if you want a new zelda hope for an soon release on WiiU. next zelda will totally be WiiU. then the next next zelda on 3ds successor
ps2: and nobody wants pointless remakes. a true zelda fan wants new and original epic content, so sadly both 3ds zeldas fail in that respect
Albtw only had new short dungeons and boring bosses sadly ...
Majora's Mask would be easiest for them to do, as they already have appropriate assets from the Ocarina of Time remake. Since the original Majora's Mask used mostly recycled assets, it seems only fitting. The biggest gameplay changes I can see coming are the ability to save anywhere, and removing the ability to interact with owl statues beyond striking to activate and warping to them. We may also get a hero mode like Wind Waker where you can only recover with store-bought items, rupee gaining exploits are removed, and there is no way to slow down the flow of time.
What I would LIKE to see them do is redo the entire environment for Termina Field. I'm fine with everything else in this game, but Termina Field just seems way too condensed. I'd like to see the transition for ground textures at least be moved into the next area so that it can just be green, that way the transition isn't quite so jarring, particularly when running circles in Goron form.
i thought i had heard that they were thinking of majoras mask after an original 3ds zelda. though i would prefer another original one, something like majoras mask, that could take a few years to make. but i think i would prefer to see majoras mask as an hd remake on wii u.
to be honest i would love to see a links adventure sequel on 3ds, maybe in a mario 3d world style to take advantage of the 3d though.
I'd like to see Vaati as the villain again. maybe a sequel to Minish Cap.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn
