Topic: StreetPass Relay hits?

I've only taken it by a McDonald's to try StreetPass Relay. Unfortunately, nothing happened (either I was the first person there or I didn't wait long enough). Most of my StreetPass hits come whenever I go to the library (it helps when the Barista in the front coffee shop has a 3DS).

I have a question about the relay hits. if my phone is broadcasting a wifi called attwifi will it work as a streetpass relay point?

I was in a McDonals across from the Boston Commons yesterday. I received the mii from there, and my other 3ds received my other mii. I went to the second floor and picked up three more mii's from three people there. My brother received my second me from the relay. It definitely works in some places, but I don't think that every place is working properly yet.

I spoke to Nintendo (well, emailed) and they basically said that you should be able to get a relay hit every time you pass a relay. UNLESS - you were the last person to pass that relay or you passed that relay already within eight hours. Best thing to do, at least in the UK, is walk round a city centre - all Greggs, MacDonalds, Subway, Phones4U and loads of other places have the Cloud. My local Greggs only ever gives me back data from my own consoles, but I find that useful for getting an extra hit for StreetPass Battle because a relay station has a different signature to a console. So, for example, I can streetPass all my consoles in the morning, take them out and get an extra hit via a relay station, then StreetPass again at home 8 hours after the morning session. The relays will only give one extra hit each per console, but I still find it useful to build my army.

You can't set up anything to be a relay point, such as a phone or your home wifi. And even if you did, other people would still have to pass you with their 3DSes in order for you to get their data, so there's no point really.

I've tried it past various (by which I mean two since I have limited Nintendo Zone hotspots where I live) and didn't get a single one.

@Chris720 Mcdee sausage and egg muffins are nice, as for the rest of the menu I'll have to agree with you there.

I've found the McD's downtown I can usually tag every 8 hours, but the ones farther out where people aren't just walking by on the street all the time I can maybe only tag once a day or sometimes I have to wait 2 days, so I guess a lot of the locations aren't necessarily having 3DS systems showing up very often to tag the relay.

Doh Last couple days at work I got zero streetpass hits Disappointing since i'm really getting into Flower Town the past week. Flower Town and the other Mii Plaza games aren't very good without streetpass hits

Some of the streetpass relays have been malfunctioning lately... IE, the AT&T wifi hotspots require the user to open a web page first and accept terms and conditions before being allowed internet access except for certain devices that are automatically approved (like the 3ds, or an AT&T cell phone). But recently some hotspots have not been "auto-approving" the 3ds like they should be... So you see the "internet" flag light up since the 3ds sees the "attwifi" SID, but it can't access the internet and in turn the Nintendo server that needs to be accessed for the street pass hit. You can see if this is the case by opening up the browser on the 3ds and hit google.com.. If you get the "AT&T wifi terms and conditions page, then indeed for some reason that hotspot isn't recognizing the 3ds right.

Fortunately it's possible to spoof the hotspots at home and get the streetpass hits without visiting the locations... So there's a workaround for those who want to complete their Mii Plaza games.

Well, I'm getting StreetPass hits every time I go to McDonald's now.

The only problem I'm having is that nobody has any pink puzzle pieces for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Xenoblade Chronicles, Nintendo Starlets or Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Puzzle Swap panels. I wish that the first piece that everyone gets for new puzzles was always a pink piece. Every time I get the first piece for a new puzzle, it's usually a regular old blue piece I could easily get with 2 Play Coins, and that's just ridiculous.

I've been to about 15 McDonalds and have about 3 hits so far. They're definitly not working right. As was said above I've had problems connecting to the Wifi at some of them that I know of. The others I didn't even try unless I was staying for a while. I hope this gets fixed because I'm missing valuable streetpasses!

The Streetpass hits dropped way off for the last two weeks at work. In fact I've Got 0 hits in the last 2 to 3 weeks. Went too McDonalds for a wrap sandwich last night and also got 0 hits there. When will they just start allowing people you add to friends in the Mii Plaza? Doesn't that make more sense? Then have your friends pop into the Mii Plaza games when you first add them, then Random drop ins later on. Really this is getting frustrating. The Relay seemed to work at first or I just got lucky for a few days and had 15 streetpass hits to start out.

Yeah, the Relay System definitely has something wrong with it. Nintendo even acknowledged it recently. When it first began, I would get a hit from any Nintendo Zone I would go to, though I usually had to be in the Zone for a couple of minutes. Now it never happens. It's been at least 10 days since I got a Relay hit.
