So just curious is anyone else really sick of the 3D look that Square has done on all their newer 3D games. The Chibi look as I'll refer to it as that's what they call it in Japan. I wish we could see some more realistic looking 3D sprites or cooler looking like the older games. Maybe I'm one of few, but ever since I think Final Fantasy III remake it seems like all of them have been in this style. One of the reasons I've been torn between playing Bravely Default is while I think that the game is probably great, I just don't like that style of character drawings. Ok Rant over just curious how others feel on this.

I agree with TopLaytonsHat for the most part, but I also strongly dislike Super Deformed. Especially if it's for a (semi) serious story, like Bravely Default. It was acceptable due to graphical limitations, but acceptable in the same way that FFVII was acceptable. I would prefer properly proportioned characters in nearly every situation.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

I'm no fan of chibi artstyle myself. Fire Emblem Awakening wasn't chibi, but the characters' feet were missing, which bugged me. Also, those stiff animations, christ

Kid Icarus has nice 3D models. Monster Hunter too. It doesn't have to be realistic to me, just not stubby feet and big heads

I don't like that style at all.

Chibi is not only cuter and sells better, it is much much more appropriate for the 3DS, since it requires less details and power to look good.

I have always preferred the chibi style when it came to the Final Fantasy games. It's one of the many reasons I love the games prior to the Playstation FFs, Honestly I wish they would go back to that style for the Final Fantasy games.

Chibi is alright by me. I mean it's not my favorite type of style, but character's can still look pretty cool as chibi I think. The Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon series does this pretty well. Goemon and Sasuke are pretty weird looking but that's cool to me.

I would not call pre-playstation final fantasy art style chibi, neither would I call Final Fantasy IX Chibi.... I would have prefered Bravely Default to use a Final Fantasy iX art style

Just imagine a chibi mode in FFXV, I think that could be the best post-game unlock ever. I don't think I could think of something funnier.

Why are you singling out Square for this?

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

I don't mind chibis, but there are certain art styles that will cause me to find a game unplayable. Dragon Quest is a fine example of this. I can't look at that game and see anything other than Dragon Ball Z...

I thought it was just the team that worked on Bravely Default that makes that terrible Chibi style. I mean aren't they the same team that made the FF remakes on the DS and the 4 Warriors of Light games? Because I haven't seen chibi's in any of Square's games in a while actually.
