I bought the black and turquoise version and it's pretty nice. The niggles that reviewers have mentioned are present. So the sound is coming from within the main unit with simply air/sound holes placed on the bottom. This can cause the 2DS to vibrate when at max volume. It's not a deal breaker but obviously an area where Nintendo cut corners for cost.
Also the glossy sides of the top screen is a magnet for dust and dirt and I have to say I much preferred the mate finish of the 3DS XL. The screen looks fine, I don't own a "new" 3DS XL anymore just a first gen 3ds and the screen looks brighter but I can't tell if it's washed out. Seems fine.
I forgot how fast the "new" 3DS XL was compared to the original 3ds models. Games load way quicker and just little UI things run faster, smoother in general.
And of course a larger screen really helps. I recently bought a Switch but wanted to play those games like Smash Bros. that aren't coming out for awhile on the Switch.

I've also bought one, only just arrived. I recently got an og 3ds as there were a few games I've never played but to be honest, it was second hand and needed a new battery and I wanted a slightly bigger screen.Plus, SNES games on the go. Never realised I wanted that till I couldn't get it and with no Switch VC on the horizon, I had a scratch to itch. For the price, I'm quite happy. I prefer the design to the og 3ds (obviously this is far newer).
I like the colour and design, it feels good in the hand. Slightly heavier then I expected but that isn't a deal breaker in any way.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
After setting it up and playing about 20 minutes I noticed the D-Pad was very wobbly. Something I never had with any controller or Nintendo system. So I took it back to the shop. On the way I realized maybe the 2DS money could be spent a bit better so I got my money back.
I think from now on it's Switch or nothing.

I traded in my N3DSXL for this one. It's so much more comfortable to hold and since I barely ever had 3D on for more than a few seconds, I'm not really losing anything important. Totally the best DS model so far.
Btw, does New 2DS XL share same monitor size as New 3DS XL ?
Yes. The screen size is the same, but the actual system is smaller and lighter. That means the screens take a bigger portion of the New 2DS XL total surface.
In my country Indonesia, there are TWO New 2DS XL in Black and White bundles arrived. Both of them are Asia Region, but still counted as NTSC-U that means can read ALL USA region 3DS games.
Me also has Pearl White New 3DS XL Asian region.
@Anti-Matter is it region locked??
Owell. I dont mind the black one. Great system btw
My only complaint is the acreen is a dist magnet and suoer reflective.
@Samus7Killer
Well... New 2DS XL still Region locked.
But don't worry about Asia region of 3DS or 2DS because ALL those machines still counted as NTSC-U, can play ALL USA region 3DS games. I also have Asia version of Pearl White New 3DS XL. It has a Green Blue circle symbol on the package, it's written Sold only on Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and UAE. Even some of my 3DS and Wii U games such as Miitopia, Paper Mario Color Splash, Animal Crossong New Leaf are Asia region. Here is the box of Pearl White New 3DS XL Asia region with Green Blue circle.
@Meowpheel
Hello.
Wanna buy White + Orange New 2DS XL USA region ?
Try to order from playasia.com
The link is above, on post #13.
Don't worry about Asia region. It still counted as NTSC-U or Region no 1. Asia region on Nintendo is different with Asia region for ps4 & xbox1 ( it counted as Chinese Hong Kong version or Region number 3. And the games for ps4 / xbox1 with Region 3 DON'T have any Age Rating label on Front cover nor any information about contents inside on Back cover, and made me avoid to buy ps4 games with Asia region because as a collector, I don't want games without Age Rating label and Content informations )

thx for the info! Ill keep that in mind as id rather have a white & orange machine... but im content jjst having a 3DS (2DS) again. Lovely little handheld..
@Samus7Killer@Anti-Matter yeah I take issue with the design of the new 2dsxl the old one was strong as in if the kids decided to throw it on the concrete floor it would not break hopefully.
this one has hinges for crying out loud also secound hand 2ds is like £35 plays all the game except a few.
I saw the 2DS XL in a youtube video and the black plastic looked... Incredibly cheap. Even more so than on the regular 2DS, which is actually pretty solid.
