I've supposedly unlocked a charge attack, but the game doesn't tell me how to use it. What do I do?

I figured it out. You have to hold either X or Y for a while to charge it up.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
