i tried shaking it but it take forever to get 10coins with that method. i rather take my 3ds with me when i go somewhere.
i always use the placoins immedietaly for that puzzle game and sometimes for that other quest
Really? It only takes me two minutes max to get it to register 1000 steps via shaking.

do you all seriously take your 3DS with you whereever you go?
i always leave it at home... i hate carrying stuff with me... wallet, smartphone, etc. that's enough
couldn't care less about coins, streetpass, etc. i just wanna play the game... and if i actually end up needing coins, i just shake that thing -_-
Then why buy a portable system in the first place ? The standard 3DS model easily fits in a pocket and the XL is no problem as long as you have some sort of rucksack or a messenger bag with you (i always travel with a messenger bag). My 3DS is almost always with me and on stand by to get street passes, coins and whatnot. Since our poppulace degraded to smartphone addicts and i hate sitting in a train, staring at people petting their phones there is nothing better to get a good book or my 3DS out and pass the time on my way back home from work
I actually play my portable systems at home about 90% of the time. I live in a suburban area so I don't take public transit, if I'm going somewhere it's usually driving myself. Also, doesn't Street Pass not work if you're playing a game? That's my understanding, which means even when I'm at the airport (gold mine for SP tags, btw) and have time to kill, I don't play games on it because I'd rather get the tags. As far as "playing on the go," I only play when I won't be passing any new people (i.e., on the plane). So, my point is that plenty of people get portable systems (particularly Nintendo's) because they offer games and experiences you can't get on home consoles. But I do try to take mine with me everywhere--again, because Street Pass and the pedometer.
On topic, I don't like cheating the pedometer either. 2 Coins (200 steps) a day for Animal Crossing is extremely manageable.
And if it's that they don't want to take the 3DS out with them, why even bother having a handheld gaming system? That's the very point of it.
well i sold my wii to get a 3DS so i can play 3DS exclusives. i dont want a console because i also sold my hd-tv. i rarely play my 3ds outside my house but i love the streetpass feature.

Why does everyone say you can't put the 3DS XL in your pocket? It's not that big, and my brother carries his in his pocket all the time.
when I'm at the airport (gold mine for SP tags, btw).
Where do you airport? I've been in 8 different airports on a total 16 occasions since getting my 3DS, and I think I've gotten a total 4 StreetPasses at all of them. They've ranged in size from massive international hubs (LAX, Chicago O'Hare, Sydney International, etc.) to smaller ones (Oklahoma City, Nadi International in Fiji, etc.), but people never seem to bring along their 3DSs.
When I bring my 3DS too work, I walk an average of 15,000 steps in 4 hours. Sometimes I walk over 30,000 steps, so my play coins supply is never low (unless I make it low)
I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!
I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

30 000 STEPS REGISTERED IN A SINGLE DAY? Wow! The most I've ever gotten in a day was 22 000, and that was when I was in New York on vacation, walking for almost a full day. You must have a good pace to be able to register that many steps in a day. Or maybe there is a varying degree of sensitivity when it comes to the gyroscope on the 3DS - maybe you've got a sensitive one. Either way, that's quite an accomplishment, and I'm just curious - how many steps in total does your Activity Log have registered to this point? I was proud of my over 837 200 steps, but I have a feeling your total will make mine look like nothing.
Where do you live (general area) out of curiosity? Because you must be walking pretty damn far on a daily basis to get that many steps. Do you go on a daily ten mile hike or something?
I'm at 3.4 million steps, and have never shaken the system. I've had it since launch and usually have it on me or in my briefcase. I routinely hit 20,000 steps, and I think my high in one day was around 40,000. I guess I'm on my feet a lot.
I don't think I've been below 200 play coins in like two years.

If you're playing a 3DS game or download, you will still get streetpasses while playing the game. If it is DS or DSi software, then no, you will not get a streetpass. Sucks that you've purposely not played your portable gaming system for this reason.
